Maurice Owens Jr.

Maurice Owens graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1990 with a degree in engineering. He spent the next six years in the Air Force, working as an aerospace engineer in weapons acquisition and operational testing, obtaining the rank of Captain. In 1999, Mr. Owens graduated from Yale Law School. Following graduation, Mr. Owens clerked for the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Judge Jerry Buchmeyer. Mr. Owens then honed his litigation skills as a litigation associate at the international law firms of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Hunton & Williams LLP. During that tenure, Mr. Owens gained experience in complex commercial litigation, constitutional litigation, as well as general litigation and appeals in federal courts, state courts, and arbitrations. Mr. Owens continues this same trial practice at Owens PLLC, finding particular interest in solving complicated legal issues with novel strategies and theories. Maurice Owens Jr. and Delwin Hervey founded Owens Hervey PLLC in August 2008. After years of practicing at large international and national law firms, the two decided to provide those same quality services from a small firm platform at an affordable price. The Firm began practicing at Bank of America Plaza in downtown Dallas. In 2015, the Firm relocated to its current location in the Inwood National Bank Building in the Dallas County suburb of DeSoto, Texas. In 2016, the Firm began doing business as Owens PLLC, retaining its recognized OH trademark. Today, Owens PLLC continues to provide its clients with the same excellent legal service and advice.

Tanya Kean Layther

Tanya Kean Layther graduated from Harvard University in 1995 with a degree in Biological Anthropology. In 1999, Ms. Layther graduated from University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law. Following graduation, Ms. Layther gained corporate and transactional experience as a corporate associate at the Dallas-based law firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist followed by in-house positions with public and private companies in the retail, logistics, transportation, and oil & gas industries, including handling domestic and international matters. Ms. Layther continues to practice as a corporate and transactional generalist with particular interest in commercial contracts and transactional, corporate, and compliance matters.
