With the original development of heavy oil in northeastern Alberta, a number of First Nations Bands looked at entering the rather risky drilling rig business. However, in 1984, with the assistance of one of the major oil producers, PIMEE WELL SERVICING LP. was created to work in the less risky, more secure, service rig industry. With the assistance of the same major oil producer, a single rig was purchased with a second added in 1987.
