Dan Chivers

Dan Chivers articled under Alexander Pringle. He is experienced in dealing with criminal law charges including driving offences, assault, fraud and murder charges. In addition to his legal qualifications, he also has a business degree. Dan is a partner in Pringle Law. He graduated from the University of Alberta Law School in 2004 and articled under Alex Pringle, K.C. Dan has been with Mr. Pringle for his entire career as a criminal trial lawyer, and has significant experience with a variety of criminal charges, including: impaired driving, impaired driving causing death, assault, assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, attempted murder, murder, fraud, extortion, criminal harassment, trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, sexual assault, child pornography and a variety of other charges. He has been successful in advancing Charter arguments in both the Alberta Provincial Court and the Alberta Court of King's Bench and he has also appeared in front of the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also lectured in both criminal law and sentencing classes at the University of Alberta Law School. Dan has also been actively involved with the Alberta Criminal Trial Lawyers' Association for well over a decade. He was president of the organization from 2017-2019 and currently sits on the executive as a Director. He was honoured to receive the Bruce Gunn Award from the Criminal Trial Lawyers' Association in 2008. Dan is very active within the courts and sits as a defence counsel representative on a variety of court committees. Dan also brings with him a wide and varied background. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a Business Degree in 1996, he went on to work as a Labour Relations Consultant and Union Organizer. He continued with his education and became certified as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and worked as a Network Administrator. Finally, he spent a year working for the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency before entering law school in 2001. Daniel J. Song

Daniel practices as counsel to Pringle Law. He manages the Vancouver office and practices criminal law in Alberta and British Columbia. He is an active member of the law societies of both provinces and travels regularly each month between Vancouver and Edmonton to appear in all levels of court in both provinces. In 2023, Daniel Song was named by Canadian Lawyer as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers of 2023 He has broad experience defending clients faced with serious and complex charges, including murder, attempted murder, criminal organization offences, conspiracies, kidnapping, extortion, drug trafficking, firearms offences, and proceeds of crime. Daniel has also established a reputation for conducting criminal appeals and appears regularly in the Alberta Court of Appeal and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. He has also appeared as lead counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada on multiple occasions, including as an applicant, appellant, respondent and intervener.

Evan V. McIntyre

Evan V. McIntyre is a criminal defence lawyer working in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. As an associate at the firm of Pringle Law since 2015, Evan has represented people on charges ranging from shoplifting to murder. Evan has significant experience running trials, negotiating plea agreements, and conducting appeals of both conviction and sentence. He prides himself on dedicated advocacy, diligent preparation, extensive knowledge of the law, and a strong courtroom presence. Before entering law, Evan was a touring musician, a steelworker, and a short-haul truck driver. He completed a Bachelor of Arts, (Honours) in Political Science at the University of Regina in 2004, graduating with great distinction. He completed a Master of Arts in 2008, and went on to start Law School in 2010. Evan graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta in 2013, having distinguished himself in the areas of criminal law and advocacy. In 2018, he received the Alberta Criminal Trial Lawyers Association's Top Gunn Award, recognizing excellence in the field of criminal defence. Evan understands that being accused of a crime is stressful, and that the justice system can be confusing and overwhelming. He believes his role is to give clients a strong and unwavering voice before the courts and fight for the best possible outcome, while also helping clients navigate the justice system and providing practical advice. Evan has appeared at all levels of court in both Alberta and the Northwest Territories, appearing both before juries and judge alone. Lindsay Tate

Lindsay Tate took a degree in journalism before entering the legal profession. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2010 and completed her articles at Pringle Law. Since then, she has practiced criminal defense.

Michael D. Sparks

Michael D. Sparks has spent eleven years representing as a trial lawyer, representing individuals charged with criminal offences like impaired driving, drug and weapon possession, and sexual assault.

Nicole J. Stewart

Nicole is a lawyer with Pringle Law, practicing exclusively in the area of criminal defence. Prior to joining the firm, Nicole clerked at the Edmonton Court King's Bench, and completed her articles under Alexander Pringle, K.C.. Nicole has conducted trials, appeals, bail hearings and guilty pleas, representing adults and youths charged with a wide range of criminal, regulatory and traffic offences, including: Violent Offences Drug Offences Sexual Offences Weapons Offences Driving Offences Property Offences Breach Charges Nicole often appears in the Court King's Bench for clients charged with more serious offences, including sexual assault, trafficking and murder. Nicole also has experience in dealing with Professional Disciplinary Hearings and Administrative Tribunals, such as appeals to the Alberta Transportation Safety Board. Nicole obtained her law degree from the University of Alberta, graduating with distinction. Throughout law school Nicole was on the Dean's List and was awarded The President's Scholarship in Law, The Criminal Trial Lawyers Association Prize in Evidence, and The Chief Judge Buchanan Memorial Scholarship in Litigation. During law school Nicole served as Criminal Law Project Coordinator for Student Legal Services, an organization that provides legal assistance to low income individuals in the Edmonton Area. Before law school, Nicole graduated with an Honours degree from Queen's University, majoring in Political Science, with a minor in French Language. Volunteering with the Prison Literacy program at Queen's, she helped inmates obtain their high school diplomas through tutoring in Math and English. During her spare time, Nicole teaches Evidence at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law, and is President of the Lawyers and Judges Curling League. Nicole also sits on the Gladue Committee, a panel dedicated to assisting First Nations accused in the sentencing process. Nicole helped to develop and co-teach the first university Gladue course offered in Canada. Stephen Brophy

Stephen Brophy completed a Bachelors of Engineering at Carleton University in 2010 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta in 2017. He went on to complete his articles under Kent J Teskey, KC, before being called to the bar in 2018. Prior to pursuing a legal career, Stephen served as an Engineer Officer in the Canadian Army. He served with 4 Engineer Service Regiment and 1 Combat Engineer Regiment and trained at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineer. As an Engineer Officer, Stephen had the privilege of commanding troops and participating in high-readiness training and other military operations. While criminal law is exciting, Stephen sometimes misses building bridges and blowing things up! He continues to serve as a member of the Primary Reserves. While at law school, Stephen was involved with Student Legal Services. He assisted people with limited-means with summary conviction matters. He was also employed as a summer student at the Edmonton Rural and Regional Response Crown Prosecutor's Office, where he learned about the other side of criminal law. In 2017, Stephen was awarded the Norman J Pollock, KC, Prize in Advocacy by the University of Alberta Faculty of Law for his superior academic achievement in the advocacy course.
