SHEETZ DESIGN® - Key Persons

Goose Guardian

www.GooseGuardian.com - The Goose Guardian project initially developed from the company's need for a logo, and soon grew to encompass everything from business cards to a new website. The 'Goose Guardian' product is a target-specific recognition device that wards off Canada Geese when it detects their (and only their) presence. The project manager has consistently pushed my abilities, compelling me to proactively learn new skills in order to keep up with the project demands and thus grow as a web designer. He has had a long list of requirements since the beginning, and it seems like the list is always growing. His demands for a short turn around, constant communication, and explanation of work by 15-minute increments, while never losing site of the professional quality of work, has taught me much about project management. Completing the Goose Guardian project during my free time, both before and after work, has forced me to find the time to devote to its needs in the early morning or late evening. I have learned to designate at least several hours every few days to keep the manager informed and the project moving forward. Meeting with him regularly by phone, email, and in person requires me to stay prepared. Applying those time management and project communication skills to other freelance ventures, I now require the same interaction with other clients. Adhering to a strict and professional mentality allows all other design projects to move along with similar pace and fluidity.
