David Moore is a directing funeral director of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services and has been a licensed funeral director for over 38 years.
David is a 1980 graduate of Western High School in Buda, IL. He and his parents lived in the funeral home in Sheffield when he was in high school. After high school, he went to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and received his Associate Degree in Mortuary Science in 1982. David continued his education in the School of Business at Southern, and also served his apprenticeship for his mortuary license. He was interested in working in Geneseo and was able to finish his training with Bill Myers and Joe Wright in the summer of 1983. David became a licensed funeral director and embalmer after that summer.
He continued his relationship with Myers-Wright Funeral Service by working for them the next summer. When he completed his Bachelor's Degree in May of 1985, he became a full-time employee in Geneseo. When Bill Myers and Joe Wright decided to retire at the end of 1985 and sold out to Vern Stackhouse and Gene Moore, David began working for his family's business. Since that time he has become a Henry County Deputy Coroner, received his Iowa Funeral Directors license, and is licensed as an Illinois Life Insurance Producer. He became a partner in Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services in January of 2000 when his father, Gene Moore, retired.
David and his wife Ellen reside in Geneseo. Ellen is employed at Geneseo Communications. They have two children, Adam and Kasey. Adam and his wife Amber reside in Geneseo with Dave's first grandchild, Arelyn, Adam works in the Quad Cities in accounting. Kasey and her husband reside in Lake Jackson, TX where Kasey is a teacher in Freeport, TX. Her husband Kevin is a chemical engineer with Dow.
David was very active in the Geneseo Jaycees when he first moved back to Geneseo after college, serving as president in 1988. He is currently a member of the Geneseo Kiwanis Club where he has served as president in 2011-2012, and Geneseo Chamber of Commerce. David is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the Iowa Funeral Directors Association and is past president and past treasurer of District 3A of the Illinois Funeral Directors.
David is available to serve families in Henry and Bureau Counties and the surrounding areas at any time. He has helped many people in the area deal with the loss of their loved ones over the past thirty-eight years and is looking forward to serving families with care and compassion for many years to come.
Jackie Lee Booker was born June 8, 1942, in Kewanee, the son of Garnett and N. Lucille (House) Booker. He was educated in Henry & Stark Counties and graduated from Toulon High School in 1960. He attended the Black Hawk Law Enforcement Training Center in East Moline. His marriage to Jacki Lamb took place on May 6, 1983, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple had most recently lived in Sarasota FL from 2007 to 2021 and currently in Dunlap, TN. Making many special friends along the way.
He was a pilot and had spent many hours flying people out of the Kewanee Airport before becoming a part-time police officer in Atkinson. He then was employed as a full-time deputy for the Henry Count Sheriff's office where he worked from 1973 until retiring in 1996. Jack was an avid golfer and always joined county clubs in the areas where he lived. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Jeannine K. Westerlund, 63, of rural Osco, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5th, at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover. Rev. Mike Lawyer will officiate. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Stackhouse-Moore, Cambridge, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the church.
Jeannine Kay Kratzer was born January 1, 1960 in Moline, the daughter of William and Marlene McCarthey Kratzer. She was educated in Moline schools. Her marriage to Russell Byrd took place in March of 1976. They later divorced. She married David Westerlund on June 23, 1995 in Andover. She received her Associate Degree from Black Hawk College.
She was employed at John Deere Healthcare as a claims supervisor and then worked for United Health Care. Jeannine was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover, where she served on the Church Board, and a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau. Her hobbies included playing cards, going to the casinos, and puzzles. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's activities and enjoyed her dogs.
Those surviving are her husband, David, a daughter, Kendra Byrd, Rock Island, a son Joseph (Sarah) Byrd, Colona, a step daughter, Krista (Michael) Gordon, Rockville, Maryland, grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas (Addison), Noah, Chandler, and Parker, and two great grandchildren Lincoln and Gavin. Other survivors include three sisters, Connie (John) Marberry, Silvis, Pam (Tim) Tittle, Moline, Sandy (Richard) Cook, Rosemont, MN, two sisters-in-law, Lynn (Richard) Lawson, and Diane (Brad) Gainey, Orion, and a brother -in-law, Mike (Donna) Westerlund, Geneseo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, John Kratzer, preceded her in death.
Robert G. Specht, 80, of Geneseo died on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Clarissa Cook Hospice, Bettendorf. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Private graveside interment service will be held on Friday, May 5 th in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Deacon Art Ries will officiate. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Geneseo is assisting the family. Memorial may be made to Henry County Humane Society, Geneseo.
Robert Gene Specht was born August 25, 1942 in Geneseo the son of Harley and Margaret (Brown) Specht. He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1960 where he had served as President of the FFA and was awarded the State Farmer Award. On December 17, 1960 he married Judith Ann Anderson in Kewanee, IL. She survives.
Bob had worked for Roth Pump Factory, Milan for 8 years, Montgomery Elevator, Moline for 4 years, owned and operated Spechts Auto in Geneseo for 22 years and worked for L.A. Colo in Geneseo for 14 years. He had also owned and operated Spechts Conoco and Spechts Stables in Geneseo.
Bob was a member of United States Trotting Association, National Rifle Association, Indian Hills Lake Association, Moose Lodge, Flemish American Club, and the United Auto Workers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, stock car racing, which he had driven in his younger years, and horse racing where he had breed, trained and raced horses.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, daughter, Dawn (Paul) Cheek, Coal Valley, and son, Mark Specht, Eldridge; five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two brother, David Specht, Plainfield, and Dennis Specht, Princeton, IL, and sister, Debbie Rodseth, Monticello, MN and his faithful dog, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alan Specht and a sister, Andrea Rosenow.
