Allan Jansen

Allan is an Electrical Engineer with more than 30 years of experience. After completing his Engineering degree at the University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban, South Africa in 1985, he has worked as an EIT, Engineer, Project Manager, Air Quality Consultant, Operations Manager and General Manager. He has worked in nuclear power generation, mining and mineral beneficiation (gold, platinum and platinum group metals, base metals, ferro-alloys, vanadium, titanium and carbon), petro-chemical, pulp and paper, chemical, ceramics, heat treatment, hazardous waste and environmental service industries. Allan began his career in South Africa and has been working in Canada since 2012. Allan has worked at Terracon since 2018, initially as the General Manager, field services before transitioning March 2022 to Director of HSE and Technical Proficiency, and most recently in May of 2023 to Director of Operations for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. He is a member of the senior management team and works closely with clients, Operations Leadership, People and Culture and all support functions to ensure the safe and effecient of all operations in the region. Allan is passionate about mentorship, leadership and employee development. While not working, Allan enjoys diy projects, fishing and hunting.

Andrew Taylor

Andrew has been with Terracon since 2009. Andrew graduated from Dalhousie University with a Degree in Management, in addition to an Advanced Diploma in Aviation from Confederation College. Andrew has extensive experience in the field of entrepreneurship, business operations, operational support, asset management and organizational efficiencies and has held various leadership roles within the company. As a member of Terracon's senior leadership team, Andrew plays a key role in Terracon's strategic planning, operational support and business development. Outside of Terracon, Andrew spends his time trying to keep up with his two boys, traveling with his wife and in his workshop as a woodworking hobbiest.

Brandy Hasiuk

Brandy has been a part of Terracon for 13 years. She graduated from NAIT with a Geological Technology (Hydrogeology specialization) diploma and moved to the Fort McMurray region shortly after. In her time with Terracon she has held many different roles from the field to supervision that have helped strengthen her skills in laboratory functions, data analysis, management and logistics. She is very process driven and likes to push for continuous improvement. When Brandy isn't working she can be found reading a good book, trying a new recipe or spending time with her family on their small acreage in the Edmonton area.

Damien McNelis

Damien joined Terracon's Edmonton team in 2018 as a field technologist. Since then he held the role as supervisor, and now as Manager of Terracon's Edmonton Operations. Damien has been instrumental in the growth of our team and client base in the region.

Farasat Khan

Farasat is a Business Development Strategist, based out of our Edmonton Operations. Farasat joined Terracon in 2019 out of our Fort McMurray Operations, having come to us with a Masters in Science in Geoscience from the University of Alberta. Prior to joining Terracon, Farasat gained industry experience as a wellsite geologist, before getting field experience with Terracon working as a construction qa/qc monitor.

Fidel Villanueva

Fidel is a Civil Engineering Technologist that has been with Terracon since 2010, and comes with over 15 years of industry experience. Fidel has held many different field and leadership roles in his time with Terracon, and currently leads operations in the Edmonton, Calgary, and northern BC regions.

Geoff Hill

Geoff has been a member of Terracon's business development team in Calgary since 2017, and previously worked with Terracon's Health, Safety, & Environment team in Fort McMurray from 2012-2013. With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, Geoff has over 10 years of experience supporting the energy & construction industries in the realms of business development, HSE, technical writing, employment & training programs, and Indigenous relations. Geoff plays a leading role in Terracon's continued growth of both clients and geographic reach, while actively supporting Terracon's Indigenous relationships and continuous market research, and maintaining key client relationships throughout western Canada. In his spare time, Geoff can be found skiing in the Rocky Mountains, escaping from locked rooms, and researching, planning, & visiting his and his wife's next far-flung travel destination.

Ian MacNeil

Ian has been with Terracon since 2006. Ian graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science Degree in Earth Science and Aquatic Resources. Ian has extensive experience in the field of geology, instrumentation installation and monitoring, drill monitoring/coordination, business operations, business development and and has held various leadership roles within the company. As a member of Terracon's leadership team, Ian plays a key role in Terracon's Field Services Group as well as business development. Since joining the company, Ian has been a resident of Fort McMurray and involved with playing and coaching hockey and baseball within the community.

JACOB RUBENSTEIN - CEO, President

Jake is a Certified Engineering Technologist and has been with Terracon since 2006. Jake's industry experience includes construction monitoring, materials testing, geotechnical instrumentation, and drill monitoring/coordination, in addition to various leadership roles within the organization including Supervisor, Operations Manager, and General Manager. As Terracon's President and CEO, Jake leads Terracon's strategic planning and business development while also leading Terracon's operations throughout Alberta and Western Canada. Jake has volunteered with the Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta as a subject matter expert for file review of new applicants since 2015 and in his free time, enjoys spending time with his family and coaching little league and minor hockey.

Jason Wong

Jason joined Terracon in March 2022 as Manager of HSE & Proficiency. Jason has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Health & Safety from Ryerson University. Jason has over 9 years industry experience and brings a wealth of knowledge and new ideas to the team in our efforts to continually improve the health and safety of our employees, clients and project peers. In his free time Jason enjoys trying new recipes, exploring different foods, and cycling.

Jeff DeVetten

Jeff is a Professional Engineer with over 7 years with Terracon, working in various positions and locations across the organization. Originally joining Terracon as Construction Quality Monitor, Jeff provided quality control services on large earthworks projects in the Fort McMurray region. Throughout his tenure, Jeff has worked as a construction monitor and geotechnical engineer-in-training in both Fort McMurray and Calgary, specializing in slope stability, geotechnical investigations, concrete testing, and data analysis. In 2021, Jeff transitioned into a leadership role and now manages our Quality Assurance department while also overseeing the continuous development and maintenance of our Quality Management System. When not at work, Jeff enjoys hiking, gardening, and playing music.

John Tosney

John has over 50 years of full-scope mining engineering experience. Holding B.Sc. (Hons.) and a M.Sc. degree in Management Science, John has served as a Miner, Shift Boss, Engineer, Vice President, President, Executive Advisor, and Consultant. John has significant mine construction and operations management experience including mine decommissioning. He has industry-leading uranium mining experience, allied to many other minerals including gold, potash, coal, iron ore, copper and oil sands. John has provided leadership of complete study cycles, pre-feasibility to bankable. He has similar experience in environmental baseline studies, through assessment and licensing processes. John has previously held executive positions with Cameco (Vice President, Engineering 1982 - 1995), Cigar Lake Mining (President 1995 - 2001), and Areva Resources (Executive Vice President 2002 - 2010). Recent clients include Areva Resources and Rio Tinto Exploration Canada. John has parallel capacity with First Nations and Metis relationships, organizational development and leadership training. John has had Board Appointments with Saskatchewan Research Council, Golden Band Resources, and Mindoro Resources. He has related industry experience as a Regional Chair, Peer Reviewer, and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining, and is former President of the Saskatchewan Mining Association. In 2005, John was awarded APEGS's Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Award.

Julie Falls - CHRO

Julie is a senior HR and Talent Acquisition leader with over 23 years' experience in a variety of sectors including Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Energy and Engineering. Julie is passionate about working with Terracon's leaders to achieve their strategic goals through the attraction and retention of top performers and sound people practices. Julie also has a keen interest in challenging existing thinking and adapting and changing practices to be "future ready". Julie volunteers with a local Calgary career transformation organization and has been a member of the "Grizzly Den" panel in their flagship program for the last 5 years.

Keith Burden

Keith is responsible for the safe and effective operation of Terracon's fleet and facilities. Having celebrated his 25th anniversary with Terracon, Keith has extensive experience in most aspects of Terracon's field operations including construction monitoring, mine operations, and materials testing. Keith has worked on some of the most complex industrial and mining sites and places a strong emphasis on safety and technical proficiency. Keith plays a critical role building out Terracon's new operating centres and integration with existing ones. In 2022 Keith took on the challenge of managing Terracon's fleet and assets and works very closly with all our field operations to ensure project success. While not behind his desk, Keith can be found working on vehicles (both Terracon's and his own), playing with some welding projects, spending time with his family, or on the open road on his bike.

Kramer Clay

Kramer is a Civil Engineering Technologist, registered with ASET, who joined Terracon in 2014 in our Fort McMurray Operations. Kramer has held several leadership positions before becoming Operations Manager for our Fort Hills project team.

Lane Maxemiuk

Lane has over 25 years experience in the mining and resource sectors. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Engineering. He has extensive experience in underground and surface geotechnical assessments, geotechnical analysis, design, and construction, and regularly provides technical and executive guidance to his clients. He has managed a variety of mining and resource sector projects at the exploration, development, construction, operation, and closure stages, both in Canada and around the world. As an avid sports fan and outdoorsman, when not at work Lane enjoys fishing in one of the many fantastic lakes in Saskatchewan, or watching live sports as often as possible.

Lee Nichols - Founder

Lee is the founder of Terracon and has over 56 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, mine and tailings facilities development and design, groundwater and mine dewatering studies, water quality studies, environmental studies, surface hydrology and ore reserve estimates. Following his undergraduate degree at Queen's University, Lee received his Masters of Science from Syracuse University. His professional career began immediately upon completion of his undergraduate studies in May, 1963 and he has been a participant in Western Canadian and foreign heavy oil projects since 1974. He has worked on projects in the Athabasca Oil Sands region continuously since that time. Lee has held various technical and senior commercial positions in companies that have worked around the globe. Lee has also successfully acted as expert witness in legal cases in the United States. Lee takes a very strong professional and personal interest in helping develop and promote Terracon's health and safety program, especially amongst entry level professionals, as well as its quality management system. In 2013 Lee was awarded the Individual Achievement Award for his many years of work to improve safety and reduce injuries in Alberta workspaces. He helped to create an undergraduate program in Engineering at the University of Alberta which focuses exclusively on risk control, safety, and loss management.

Paul Xu

Paul is a Civil Engineer and has been with Terracon since 2005. He is a registered PEng in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia and has been instrumental in leading projects for Terracon and our clients across Western Canada.

Roland Tosney

Roland has over 25 years of experience in the mining and resource sectors. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Engineering (Geological) and a Masters of Science (Mining Geotechnical Engineering). He has extensive experience in both surface and underground geotechnical assessments, geo-design, geo-construction, and regularly provides technical and executive guidance to many of his clients. He serves as a Qualified Person for securities exchange filings, preliminary assessments, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. Roland's clients routinely engage him in permitting and regulatory compliance, and he has managed a variety of mining and resource sector projects at the exploration, development, construction, operation, and closure stages. Roland's work has given him the opportunity to travel across the globe but when not at work or on the road, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports, and enjoying the community and events of Saskatoon.

Shaun Gawryliuk - CFO

Shaun is a Chartered Accountant with over 27 years of experience, working primarily with privately owned businesses. Shaun started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers working with small and mid-sized companies, and also served as Finance Director for WorleyParsons' (formerly Komex International Ltd.) environmental and engineering consulting business in Canada, while also helping support their international operations. Shaun joined Terracon in 2010 and is primarily responsible for managing and helping direct Terracon's financial services, corporate development and strategic business planning. Shaun enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, fly fishing, golfing, and plays an active role in his community volunteering as a coach in minor hockey, soccer, baseball and softball.

Tara Rihn

Tara is a dynamic engineering and project management executive with 30 years experience in operational and functional leadership, strategic partnerships and international assignments. Tara's focus is to advance exemplary business acumen within organizations where sustainability, collaboration, diversity and global vision are key focuses. Tara has previously held executive positions with URS Flint, Terracon Geotechnique and Stuart Olson. Tara currently acts as an independent advisor and corporate director. She is a P.Eng (retired) with a B.Sc. in Engineering, an MBA, and a certificate in Corporate Governance from the Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania).

Wenbin Tang

Wenbin is a Professional Engineer and has been with Terracon since 2012. Wenbin graduated from Saint Mary's University with a Diploma in Engineering and earned a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Dalhousie university two years later. Wenbin has been the CCIL Concrete Supervising Engineer for Calgary and BC regions since 2017 and has extensive experience in the geotechnical laboratory and field testing, pile monitoring, construction monitoring and quality management systems. Wenbin has passionate about working with junior professionals to pursue their career aspirations.

Whitney Drouin

Whitney joined Terracon in 2019 with over a decade of experience in the support industry. With an education in Management and much of her experience leading and managing people, Whitney was able to develop a multifaceted support team that engages with each of Terracon's teams and departments. Whitney has worked on a number of various projects and tasks within Terracon and has developed admirable leadership and coaching attributes, as well as a wealth of knowledge on the inner workings of our support services. Whitney's dedication and application of Terracon's core SITE values has been unwavering and has helped develop and lead her high performing team. Whitney has been actively involved in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo since relocating from Vancouver Island in 2008. Her life outside of the office is focused on her amazing family, any sport she can find and spending as much time outdoors as the weather will allow.
