AARFP - Key Persons

Aaron Singh - Treasurer

Job Titles:
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
I started volunteering for AARFP about 20 years ago. There was a need to fill a position as the person who was involved was looking to move on. The timing worked out as I wanted to get more involved. I really enjoyed the people I worked with as well as the involvement we had in recreation operation training and standards, so I continued to volunteer. Once you get involved, it can be hard to leave. A goal I have for the Association is to continue to improve our professionalism and to continue looking at all the ways we can work with our partners. Fun Fact: I kind-of enjoy the taste wine. I am lucky enough to be part of a group that creates events each month where we get to try different wines and how they pair with food.

Adrian Thibault

  • Arena Stream Representative

Andrew Jones

Job Titles:
  • Client Services Representative
I volunteer with RFP to give back to an organization that provides the tools to industry professionals to provide quality recreation services. A goal that I have for the organization is to expand the client services stream to include training for those that are wishing to advance their careers in recreation services. A fun fact is that when I am not at work, I play on the pro curling tour.

Arena Stream

Job Titles:
  • Representative
I am looking forward to working with the RFP board and trying my best to help the arena professionals with their issues or at least helping them access the resources that will help. Ultimately, I am volunteering with RFP to try and make the industry, which I love, but can be challenging at times, an easier to work in. Whether it be through education, advocacy or networking we can all use a little help now and then. Most people don't know this about me; I won Male Athlete of the year in grade 11 and 12, not for my golf skill or hockey, but for my dominance in singles badminton.

Chris McKenna

Job Titles:
  • Executive Director

Craig Dilts

Job Titles:
  • President Elect
I volunteer with AARFP because I find that being able to share industry knowledge with the next generation is rewarding and enjoyable. I envision our courses continuing to be recognized in Alberta and other provinces to ensure consistency and safety for all recreation facilities. While working a game at the Saddledome, I shared an elevator with none other than Jim Treliving. Naturally as a friendly guy he threw out his hand for a shake and in a moment of stunned panic I shook his hand. I can only imagine what he thought as I was wearing cleaning gloves and carrying a toilet plunger in the other…awkward.

I volunteer for AARFP because of the mission and vision of the organization. Through education and advocacy, there many recreation facilities in the province of Alberta that can operate more safely and efficiently. My goal is to have AARFP education known and wanted within all of Alberta. Fun Fact: I love camping and I am a grandmother to three very busy boys!

There are so many reasons why I volunteer with AARFP, the two that stand out the most for me are to help build a strong organization in the recreation industry with my expertise in the parks department, and to build healthy relationships with organizations throughout the region by providing any advice, support and education to help them succeed. The one goal I would like to see is for the AARFP to expand nationwide. Fun fact: I've been in Martial Arts since I was 9 years old, and hold many championships throughout my time! Every kick matters, so play safe!!!
