Bas Kist - Founder, Shareholder
Bas Kist is co-founder and shareholder of Chiever. He started his own trademark consultancy in Amsterdam in 1991. Four years later, he and Alice Slabbaert established the trademark consultancy Shield Mark.
In 2008, following the acquisition of Shield Mark by the Danish company Zacco, he was appointed Marketing Director of the new international group. Bas left Zacco in 2010 and set up Chiever with two of his partners.
Within Chiever, Bas is responsible for marketing. He regularly writes articles on trademark and copyright law for the De Volksrant newspaper and the advertising magazine Adformatie. Bas is a lecturer at the EFMI Business School and the European Institute for Brand Management EURIB.
Having worked at Mercer for 22 years, Carina joined Chiever as a Team Assistant in May 2022. Carina carries out all secretarial and administrative work to support the various practices. In addition, Carina helps as necessary with office-wide support, and administrative and facility work. Next to her work at Chiever, Carina is also a substitute instructor at Fit4Lady women's gym.
Chiel has been an IT consultant with Chiever since 2019. He is responsible for day-to-day IT operations and the development of our client portal and internal systems, including ongoing management, information analysis, architecture and process improvements.
Clementine has been a Trademark Assistant at Chiever for a long time (since 2014) and has been in the business for over 20 years. In her position, she is primarely involved in supporting one of our practices in the field of trademark and design law. Clementine likes to read; both exciting books and novels. In addition to that, she likes to be creative with anything. Clementine loves to walk in the woods or get some fresh air on the beach.
Favorite brand: Clementine has two: FIAT, because she has been driving it with great pleasure for 36 years and Rituals, because she finds this a beautiful brand with delicious personal indulgence products!

Denys has been an European Trademark Attorney at Chiever since 2019 and has been in the business for over 20 years. In her position, she is primarily concerned with the worldwide brand protection of her clients, mainly medium and large-sized companies. This conducts oppositions and negotiations with third parties about brands that are similar to the brands of her clients. Her extensive network of colleagues abroad is very useful! Denys is a certified Trademark Attorney and a certified BMM (Benelux Association of Trademark and Design Law) Attorney, having successfully passed the BMM professional examination. The BMM certification mark gives companies the assurance that attorneys have the knowledge, training and experience required to competently advise on trademark protection. Denys lives close to the beach and can be found there every week from spring. So she has no lack of fresh, beachy air! A few of her children even work there in some restaurants, so that's very handy.
Favorite brand: THE WHITE COMPANY. ‘This is a Britisch quality brand without much fuss. My day starts and ends with their very good towels and bedding, which is very nice with a large family!"
After completing her Master's in Information Law at Amsterdam Graduate School of Law, Eline joined trademark agency Novagraaf. In 2015 she took charge of the in-house trademark protection business of the law firm Holland van Gijzen. After a year, she moved to Chiever. Eline works as European Trademark Attorney for one of our largest international clients.
Elisabeth arrived at Chiever in February 2018 as a working student. Now that she has completed her master's degree at the VU, she is working as a Trademark Attorney in the team of Denys Bertels. In her spare time she likes to discover new restaurants and she enjoys running.

Emilie Bijloos is an experienced and driven Human Resources Specialist with extensive experience at international companies and HR teams.
After graduating in Amsterdam, she started working in the HR department of G-Star in 2007 where it became clear that the HR profession is a match for Emilie. She enjoyed working at G-Star and learned a lot in those ten years. In 2018 she started as an HR Specialist at SWIFT (The global provider of secure financial messaging services) and then in 2021 as HR Advisor at GEODIS (Logistics & Transport). As of May 9th, 2022, Emilie is the HRM Coordinator at Chiever.

Internally, Emilie is the first point of contact for HR and facilitates between management and the organisation.
Favourite brand: Sonos. Music is my passion, and I love making endless playlists and listening to them via my Sonos speaker system.
Judith has been active in the trademark industry for more than 20 years. In 2000 she started as a trademark assistant and worked in various trademark offices. She joined Chiever in 2014. She supports Maria-Gemma Huijnen in her work for several large international clients.

Kayin was a European trademark attorney at NLO for more than 7 years before joining Chiever in 2015. Before 2007 she worked as a Trademark Assistant at Royal Numico N.V./ Nutricia International B.V. (currently: Groupe Danone S.A.). Kayin is also familiar with the customer side of our business and this experience with both the customer side and as an advisor, means that she understands her customers' needs well. This is evident in her clear communication, practical advice and cost-effective protection strategies. She, therefore, gets a lot of satisfaction from assisting and thinking along with her customers to build optimal protection of brand portfolios and solve complex legal issues practically and creatively. Kayin works for large international clients with broad international trademark portfolios as well as small startups and everything in between.
Kayin is a registered EU trademark attorney and recognised BMM agent. The BMM quality mark assures companies that the individual carrying this quality mark has the necessary knowledge, training and experience to be able to advise on trademark protection.
Klaas Beks started his career as a trademark consultant in 2008 at trademark agency Novagraaf. There, he worked in a team that mainly advised large international clients on the protection of their trademarks.
In 2016, Klaas made the switch to Chiever as European trademark attorney. Klaas works for a wide range of different clients, varying from listed multinationals to a large number of successful tech-driven international scale-ups.
Klaas is a registered EU trademark attorney and an approved BMM attorney. He successfully completed the official training of the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law BMM in 2013. The BMM certification gives companies the certainty that the person who carries this certification has the necessary knowledge, training and experience to be able to advise on trademark protection.
Klaas has been an Partner at Chiever since 2022.
Kyra originally comes from Aruba and now lives in Amsterdam. She has been working at Chiever as a Junior Trademark Assistant since September 2020. In her function, she supports Klaas Beks and his practice. Apart from her work, she enjoys going to concerts and practising yoga.
Favourite brand: Spotify. ‘I cannot live without music. I'm always on the lookout for new music and artists and I love going to concerts. On Spotify, I can easily find the right music for whatever moment. I can pick and choose what I want to hear or I let Spotify surprise me. Spotify compiles a weekly playlist based on the music that I like to listen to. A great way to find new music and Spotify also notifies me when my favourite artist is performing live. The platform offers the perfect service for music lovers.'
Manon has been working in the Trademark industry since 2004 and since then she has worked predominantly on improving and strengthening the internal organization and creating lean processes. From the start of Chiever in 2011, she has been involved in the set-up of the organization. After finishing FMA / Business Administration at Nyenrode, she has been focusing even more on financial processes, strategic issues and the planning and translation thereof to the organization. Manon is part of the management team and is responsible for the internal organization and large (client oriented) projects.
Marion has extensive experience in the world of trademark consultancy. She began her career in the sector in 2000 and has worked for Chiever since 2013. As a Trademark Assistant, she assists Volkert Teding van Berkhout and works for a number of Chiever's biggest clients.
Melanie began her career in the trademark industry at Knijff trademark agency where she worked as a paralegal from 2005-2013. She then moved to Novagraaf trademark agency. In 2016 she began working at Chiever. Melanie is a trademark assistant working in the practice of Miriam den Boogert.
Mirjam began her career in the trademark field in 1999 at Shield Mark trademark agency. She worked there for a long time as a trademark assistant for multinational companies such as FrieslandCampina, Clarins and Scotch & Soda. In 2015 Mirjam joined Chiever. She supports Maria-Gemma Huijnen in her work for several large international clients.
Nynke has been working at Chiever since March 2018. In her position as Trademark Attorney, she advises on all areas of intellectual property law, such as trademarks, design and copyright. Nynke has many different clients: from well-known fashion brands and influencers to tech startups. This combination makes her work so much fun for her, because she can always think along with her clients in a different way.
Favorite brand: "Lonely Planet. In addition to my work, I love traveling a lot. Even before a holiday is over, the next trip is already booked! In 2019 I traveled Sri Lanka by tuk-tuk and in 2022 I will visit Israel and Japan. Thanks to Lonely Planet, I'm already having fun before my journey starts and I get to know all the nice places in the country!"
Olivia has been working at Chiever in Kayin Pang's practice since May 2021. Olivia studied law at Utrecht University and the VU in Amsterdam. After obtaining a master's degree and following a number of internships in intellectual property law, Olivia started working at Chiever. Olivia feels very much at home as a Trademark Attorney and enjoys working for many different clients and the variety of tasks.
Putri has worked as a legal and administrative assistant for various companies since 2012, including Hart Advocaten, Cedar B.V. and Egis Parking Services. She joined Chiever as a Trademark Assistant in September 2018. She supports Maria-Gemma Huijnen in her work for several large international clients.

Hello! My name is Sjors and I've been working at Chiever in Denys Bertels' team since March 2020. During my Law studies at the VU Amsterdam, trademark law piqued my interest and, after finishing my Master's Degree Internet, Intellectual Property, and ICT, I joined Chiever. My work as a (junior) Trademark Attorney is very diverse and dynamic. It offers new challenges nearly every single day.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and I regularly visit museums. I'm also a winter sports enthusiast. There's nothing I like more than a great day of skiing followed by a proper après-ski in a cosy mountain cabin.
Favourite brand: I don't really have an absolute favourite. There are so many companies that offer wonderful products and services. But if you ask me to name one particular brand, it would be Spotify. I love listening to music and not a day goes by that I don't. So Spotify is the perfect medium for that as it gives me access to a basically bottomless music library and I can have all my favourite playlists at my fingertips.

Volkert Teding van Berkhout is one of the founders and shareholders of Chiever. He began his career in the trademark world at the naming consultancy Globrands, which later merged with the trademark consultancy Intermark. In 1996 Volkert joined the management of Shield Mark, where he became a partner and joint shareholder in 1998.
In 2008, following the acquisition of Shield Mark by the Danish company Zacco, he assumed responsibility for the sales of the Dutch outlet. Volkert left Zacco in 2010 and set up Chiever with two of his partners.
Within Chiever, Volkert is responsible for Sales. He works for a number of Chiever's biggest clients with substantial international trademark portfolios.
