Tarpley received an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, and some of his job titles have included Computer Tech (Best Buy), PL/SQL Programmer (Harding University), Systems Administrator (Stephen F. Austin State University), and WWW Specialist (Columbia Regional Geospatial Service Center)...
