Her background includes more than 15 years of professional experience in the establishment and directorship of innovative initiatives in informal Jewish education, adult education, professional development and community-wide programming. She has served in a professional capacity for Jewish United Fund/ Partnership 2000 (Chicago) and the Community Foundation for Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago (CFJE) as the first Director of the Department of Alternatives in Jewish Education. In this position she developed and promoted the agency's signature program, "Ta'am Yisrael: A Taste of Israel," a one-week immersion experience in Israel for 8th graders, focusing on the details of staff development and orientation, student community development, program marketing, family outreach and communication. She has also served Jewish Life Network/ Steinhardt Foundation and the Jewish Community Center on the Upper West Side, NY, helping their program and affinity groups meet their public relations, marketing, recruitment, staff training, evaluation and on-site material needs. She has consulted on strategic planning projects of the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School of North America and for Voices for Israel. Leslie holds a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University, Masters in Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a Certificate in Non Profit Management from Gratz College.
