Alfredo Thomas

Alfredo Thomas, holds a music degree, with a specialization in music education. He is charge of the difficult task of teaching music to the students that are specializing in audio. Alfredo has a musical career that expands from being a choir director to a session musician and a composer. He was a student of the well-known musician, Gerry Wail. Thomas also brings a part of the live music scene to the school through his life experiences.

Carmen Bell-Smythe de Leal

Carmen Bell-Smythe de Leal, is a founder of Taller de Arte Sonoro, and is the first woman that graduated as a sound engineer in Venezuela, and has ample experience in microphone selection for international concerts. Carmen is the administrative director for TAS, and works very hard to ensure the best quality of education for the students, and to monitor the overall management of the school. She is in charge of the Secretariat of the A.E.S. in Venezuela and is the faculty advisor for the student section that is housed in our school.

Elmar Leal

Elmar Leal, founded TAS in 1986. He is an audio engineer of proven and ample experience in all the areas that pertain the audio discipline. He has worked with renowned international artists, such as: The Police, Queen, Paco de Lucia, The Joe Perry Project, Saga, Grand Funk, XTC, Jean-Luc Ponty, Terra Rara, Harlequin, Spirogira, Lani Hall, Maynard Ferguson, Richard Clayderman, Raphael, José Luis Rodríguez, among others. He is the founding member and President of the A.E.S.' (Audio Engineering Society)Venezuelan section, and has been selected, through member elections, in two occasions, as the Vice President for the A.E.S.' Latin American region, for which he is also the founder and main promoter. For 10 years, he was a volunteer writer for the MIX magazine in Spanish, a publication that is edited and published in the United States. Elmar is also a music producer, composer and plays multiple instruments.

Francisco Domingo

Francisco Domingo, graduated at Taller de Arte Sonoro in 1986. He has been a member of our team and has been working at the school since that time. He is an instructor for multichannel recording and audio mixing, and also installs professional audio equipment; his professional and top quality work can be witnessed in all installations of TAS' recording studios. He is the founder of True Digital, a recording company that is already recognized in the Venezuelan music industry.

Nancy Bell-Smythe

  • Industrial Relations Director
Nancy Bell-Smythe, industrial relations director, graduated at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and is the founder of our library. She is in charge of selecting and helping students to position them in the work field. She plans internships and is responsible for the TAS database, and the video, audio, and magazine libraries.
