Bel Canto Reeds was founded in 2005 by Frank and Kim Wangler as one of the first online sites to offer handmade bassoon reeds (or much of anything at that point). In almost 20 years in business we have served hundreds of bassoon players across the country - and across the world - making handmade reeds that allow bassoonists of all ages to perform their best with a reed that is well balanced and easy to play - while still having a dark, rich tone. We are proud of what we have accomplished over the years to support bassoon players and now have decided to expand our business to take advantage of our expertise on oboe and contrabassoon and will offer those players a reasonably priced alternative to commercial (machine made) reeds that often do more harm to young players than good.
