Amanda Burns

Amanda Burns is an associate with Kotchen & Low LLP. Her primary practice areas include class action employment discrimination litigation and antitrust. Prior to joining Kotchen & Low, Amanda was an associate at a law firm in New York, where her practice included conducting internal investigations for global financial institutions and representing clients in complex litigation matters, including civil antitrust class actions. She also served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney's Office in 2017, where she prosecuted felony cases. Amanda received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. While at Georgetown Law, she was an editor on the American Criminal Law Review's Annual Survey of White Collar Crime. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Daniel A. Kotchen

Daniel Low is a partner with Kotchen & Low LLP. His main practice areas are complex commercial litigation, including employment discrimination class actions and antitrust class actions. Mr. Low has assumed leadership roles in a number of matters in private practice and as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice. While at Kotchen & Low LLP, Mr. Low has represented plaintiffs and defendants in employment, antitrust, RICO, breach of contract, False Claims Act, and other commercial litigation matters involving billions of dollars in alleged damages, including claims against manufacturers, wholesalers, and major airlines involving allegations of discrimination, price fixing, market allocation, group boycott, and fraud. In connection with these matters, Mr. Low has appeared before federal and state trial courts, federal appellate courts, the Multi-District Litigation panel, the DOJ, and FTC, and has tried cases to a verdict in both federal and state court. Prior to joining Kotchen & Low LLP, Mr. Low successfully represented Fortune 500 companies in defeating class claims, in asserting antitrust, breach of contract, and other commercial claims, and in defending antitrust and consumer protection claims. Mr. Low clerked for Chief Judge Deanell Tacha of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and clerked for the Supreme Court of Guam. Mr. Low attended Yale Law School, where he served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal. He received a bachelor's degree with highest honors from the University of California at Berkeley. Between college and law school, Mr. Low lectured at Chiang Mai University in Northern Thailand, where he published a book on business correspondence and attained fluency in Thai. Mr. Low was selected to the Washington, DC Super Lawyers list in 2016 through 2024, and has achieved the highest possible 10.0 Superb rating from Avvo Ratings. Mr. Low was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas and is an avid fan of Kansas Jayhawk basketball. He is married and has one son.

Lindsey Grunert

Lindsey Grunert is Counsel with Kotchen & Low LLP. Her main practice areas include class action employment discrimination litigation. Prior to joining Kotchen & Low, Lindsey was an associate at a Boston, MA law firm specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice. In this position, Lindsey assisted in all aspects of litigation and case management and advocated on behalf of injured plaintiffs. Lindsey attended Boston College Law School where she graduated with honors and was awarded "Pro Bono Excellence" for providing over 100 hours of pro bono service to a local non-profit organization. During law school, Lindsey worked as a Research Assistant for the school's criminal procedure professor and as a legal intern for American Public Television. Lindsey received her undergraduate degree from Boston College, graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and Psychology. Mark Hammervold is Of Counsel with Kotchen & Low LLP. His primary practice areas are complex commercial, employment, consumer, and health care litigation. Mark started his legal career as an associate at a boutique health care litigation firm in Nashville, TN, primarily defending large health care companies and associated professionals against a wide spectrum of lawsuits, including breach of contract, tortious interference with business relationships, defamation, medical malpractice, wrongful termination, antitrust, and civil rights claims. Mark thereafter started his own practice and focused on plaintiff-side consumer, healthcare, and commercial litigation. Mark has represented clients in courts and arbitration across the country. Mark has tried cases to jury verdict, including as first chair, and has served as lead counsel in several successful appeals. Mark has a special interest in the jewelry industry and has acquired significant recognition for prosecuting and settling several high-profile consumer cases against jewelers. Based on his reputation as a fierce advocate who understands the industry, Mark has also been retained by retailers, distributors, and wholesalers in connection with disputes with vendors, employees, competitors, grading labs, debtors, and media companies. In 2018 through 2023, Mark was recognized as a Super Lawyer's "Rising Star" for exhibiting excellence in legal practice. This distinction is awarded to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys following a peer-selection process. Mark attended Vanderbilt University Law School on an academic scholarship. During law school, he won Vanderbilt Law's intramural mock trial tournament in back-to-back years. He also represented Vanderbilt at the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition, winning first place in the region, and third place nationally. Mark completed his undergraduate education at Northwestern University. He attended on a merit scholarship for policy debate and graduated with honors.
