Bruce T. H. Burke

Mr. Burke specializes in civil litigation with an emphasis in private government construction contracts as well as complex litigation. He has tried well over 100 actions to judgment. Mr. Burke is also certified as a public works arbitrator by the State of California, a special master by the State Bar of California, and has acted as an arbitrator for the Alameda County Superior Court for the last 20 years. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1978, and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court, 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. Court of Claims, Federal Circuit Court and the U.S. Court of International Trade. Mr. Burke was educated at the University of California, Edinburgh University and Oxford University. He was awarded a B.A. with Highest Honors from the University of California and a Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Mr. Burke started the practice in 1979.

John David Kessler

Mr. Kessler specializes in state and federal tax matters and estate planning. He emphasizes small closely held businesses to maximize benefits to the owners, their families, and their businesses. Services provided include: the planning and preparation of estate planning documents (including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, family limited partnerships, and limited liability companies; tax and business planning; tax preparation of individual, estate and business tax returns; representation of clients before taxing authorities; contract review and preparation; review of various business documents and real estate matters; and probate and trust litigation. Mr. Kessler graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1976. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1976. He is also admitted to the bar of the United State Tax Court. Mr. Kessler has been a named partner of Burke and Kessler since 1981. From 1995 through 2001 he also acted as the Chief Financial Officer of Bazell Technologies Corporation. During 2009 Mr. Kessler was employed on a part-time basis as legal counsel to Established Brands International, Inc.

Kelly Huey

Ms. Huey graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in legal studies. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the John F. Kennedy University School of Law in 1996. She was admitted to the California Bar in 1997. Ms. Huey has been employed by Burke and Kessler since 1992. She has been an of counsel associate attorney of Burke & Kessler since 1997.
