Alan Acker joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in August 2011. He practices Family Wealth & Estate Planning, emphasizing estate and gift taxation, income taxation of trusts and estates, charitable giving, and probate law.
Alan brings a great deal of experience to the team of estate planning attorneys at CPM. He is a former Franklin County Ohio Probate Court Judge. Alan has practiced law in Norfolk, Virginia, Chicago, Illinois, and Columbus, with a primary focus on estate planning matters. Alan is the creator of the E&E Trust and Will Drafting System, a web-based system to assist Ohio attorneys in drafting trusts, wills, and financial powers of attorney.

Alicia is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and is a member of Section Council for the OSBA's Labor and Employment Law Section. She is a former member and Chair of the Columbus Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section.
Alicia is a busy mom to her two sons and two dogs outside of the office. She enjoys exploring new restaurants with her husband.
Amy Alsko has more than 10 years of experience in managing Estate Administration. Amy also has extensive experience in the areas of probate and taxes. Amy was an Instructor at Franklin University and taught Principles of Finance and Personal Financial Planning. Amy joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in January 2020.
EDUCATION
Amy received her undergraduate degree (B.S.) from West Virginia University in 1993 and her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from West Virginia University in 1997. Amy also attended the Midwest Trust School at Ohio University.
Amy Maxwell has more than 25 years of experience as a paralegal. She has a broad range of experience including probate, estate and trust administration, creditor representation in foreclosure and loan work-out matters, real estate tax matters and contract management. Her current focus with the firm is assisting estate planning clients or estate and trust fiduciaries with their real estate titling needs. Amy joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in January 2011.
EDUCATION
Amy received her undergraduate degree (B.S.) from Bowling Green State University in 1990 and a Paralegal Certification from Columbus State in 1993.
Andrew Federico has been with Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP since 1980. Before joining the firm, he was an attorney examiner with the Ohio Department of Commerce in the Division of Securities. He has devoted his practice to general business and securities law issues throughout his career. He has practiced in the municipal finance area for over 30 years, serving as both bond counsel and underwriters counsel in over one hundred bond issuances. Andy has also served as general outside counsel for both public and private companies.
Andy was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Korean American Community School of Central Ohio for many years. He is a member of the Columbus and Ohio Bar Associations.
Andy has been a speaker at the Bar Association of Greater Cleveland's Securities Law Institute, the Columbus Bar Association's Bedrock Series of Seminars and the Ohio Securities Conference.

Brandon Borgmann joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in September of 2008, focusing his practice on estate and business succession planning, probate, special needs law, and tax. Brandon represents individuals, business owners, and families concerning estate planning, tax planning, and business succession planning. He also represents executors and trustees with respect to the administration of estates and trusts, probate litigation, and taxation.
Brandon has been recognized in the "Best Lawyers in America" list by Best Lawyers® (2020-2023) for Trusts and Estates.
Brandon is a former Chair of the Elder and Special Needs Law Committee of the Ohio State Bar Association and the former Probate Committee Chair of the Columbus Bar Association. He has served as an adjunct professor at Capital University Law School, teaching estate tax, gift tax, and the income taxation of trusts and estates. Brandon is also a past President of the Capital University Law School Alumni Board.

Brent Rosenthal joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in July 2007. In his practice, he focuses on representing closely-held businesses and their owners in a broad scope of their legal needs - business formation and structuring, finance, transactions (including acquisitions and contract preparation and analysis), employment and general business, and legal counseling. Brent's commercial real estate practice focuses on representing a variety of their needs. His clients include buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and developers in the acquisition. He also handles sales and leasing, development, financing, zoning, and land use matters.
Brent received his bachelor's and master's degree in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University in 1977 and 1980. He received his law degree (J.D.) with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1984 and is a member of the Order of the Coif.
Brent is a member of the Columbus Bar Association. He is one of the first Ohio lawyers and one of approximately 20 attorneys in the state to be certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Real Property - Business, Commercial and Industrial Law (renewable 2022). OSBA certification is a voluntary process that requires a commitment to excellence. Ohio attorneys certified as specialists by the OSBA must take and pass a written examination in their specialty field and be favorably evaluated by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work. Certified specialists demonstrate a high level of substantial involvement in the specialty area and fulfill ongoing education requirements.

Brent resides in Westerville with his wife, Sylvia, and has three adult daughters, two sons-in-law, two beautiful granddaughters and a handsome grandson. In his spare time, Brent enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, reading, listening to music and spending time with his family.

Brett A. Miller joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in 2021 as Of Counsel and is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. For over 19 years, Brett has gained extensive experience as a trial attorney throughout many of Ohio's 88 counties and U.S. federal district courts. He represents businesses and individuals in complex civil litigation, including business disputes, family law, catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death. Brett also has experience representing architects, engineers, contractors, property owners, manufacturers, and suppliers in construction, real estate, and products liability litigation.
Brett is licensed to practice law in Ohio and the United States District Courts for Ohio's Northern and Southern Districts.
Education
Brett received his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Bowling Green State University in 1997. He received his law degree (J.D.) from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2001. While attending law school, he served as a Senator on the Student Bar Association, Dean of the local chapter and Student Member of the Supreme Senate of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, and as a Mock Trial team member.
Brett has been an active member of various professional and community-based organizations throughout his career. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and its litigation section. Brett has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and as a Member of the Bylaws, Ambassador, and Benefits committees of the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has served as Chairman of the Board for the Violet Township Port Authority and as a member of various community-based advisory groups for the Pickerington Local School District.
Bryan K. Hogue is the Managing Partner of Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP. He has been a lawyer for 36 years and concentrates his practice in the representation of business owners and closely held businesses concerning their general business matters, estate, tax and business succession planning.
He currently co-chairs the Business Department at CPM, which provides a wide range of services for corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other business organizations. He previously was the Practice Group Leader of the Family Wealth Planning practice group, which provides integrated income, gift, estate and wealth transfer planning for individuals, business executives and business owners.

Bryan Pritikin is an Associate in Carlile Patchen & Murphy's Litigation Practice Group. Bryan has experience as plaintiff and defense counsel and focuses his practice on resolving complex civil and commercial disputes and business torts, such as claims for contract breach, fraud, fiduciary duties, and other business litigation issues. He routinely appears before trial and appellate courts at both federal and state levels, arbitration panels, and regulatory and administrative boards and commissions.
Bryan prides himself on building strong client relationships through frequent client contact, and his pre-trial diligence translates to focused and persuasive trial advocacy. With CPM's diverse practice capabilities and cross-functional practice groups, Bryan can meet CPM's clients' needs in any litigation context.

Carol joined CPM in June 1977, where she served as Co-Managing Partner and chair of CPM's Commercial Law Practice Group.
Carol is a member of the American Bar Association Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development and the Business Law Section. She is also a member of the Taxation and the Real Estate Committees of the Columbus Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association.
