ANNA OULD - Treasurer, VP

SEL's proud owner, Vice President and Treasurer, has been part of the company since its inception in 1971. Anna has a Masters Degree from Santa Clara University while her undergraduate work was done at SJSU.

JON CARTER

Jon joined SEL in 2013 as a lab technician and quickly became a valuable and knowledgeable member of our staff.

KELLY PETERS

Job Titles:

Kelly is a member of our non-technical staff whose primary activities are sales support and client billing. Kelly has a BA from Sonoma State University.

Kendall Wilcox

Kendall joined SEL in 2019, but he began his career as a safety engineer with UL. After moving on from UL, Kendall has had various regulatory, testing and management positions at startups such as Brocade, Data Domain, and Brava Home, as well as larger organizations such as Fujitsu, Apple, and Dell/EMC. Kendall's core skills are in the product safety arena, but he also has extensive experience with environmental regulations such as ROHS/REACH, as well as EMC testing and compliance. He has also implemented an ISO 9002 quality management system while with Fujitsu, and is well versed in the manufacturing processes required for compliance with safety agencies. While working in the startup environments, Kendall handled additional activities such as MDVT and HALT testing, developing corporate Regulatory Compliance Specifications, and building organizations to support growing compliance and testing activities. ​ CONTACT: kendall@seldirect.com, (408) 544-1890, ext 231

LEE OULD

Job Titles:

Lee joined the business full time after graduating from Stanford University in 1992 with a Bachelor's degree in International Relations with the focus on the European Union, with engineering courses relating to product safety completed. He handles much of the test/measurement/laboratory equipment, lighting products, new technologies, semiconductor equipment (SEMI), and laser safety.

MARY COSTA

Mary joined SEL after having worked in Silicon Valley for several years, most recently at SBC Communications, after the early years of SGI. Mary works to provide non-technical support to the consultants, and interfaces with the safety agencies to advance the projects on the front end and non-technical matters.

Paul Carter

Job Titles:
  • Senior Safety Consultant, Senior EMC Consultant.
After working for SEL 2 years, Paul left for a 2 year hiatus in Idaho, and then re-joined us in January, 2008. Paul worked at Ampex Corporation for over 16 years, where he was responsible for Product Safety, EMC, DVT, MIL-STD-461 tests, and Power Supply Qualifications. Paul's involvement with SEL began way back, when faced with obtaining product safety approvals for Ampex's full product line after not having any approvals previously. Paul hired SEL to help complete this major task and well, he liked SEL so much, he later became one of us! Paul's skills include designing test plans, troubleshooting for practical solutions, and effectively communicating results and/or corrective action to engineering teams when necessary. Paul also maintained Ampex's 3m EMC chamber, developed an extensive ATE power supply qualification program, and performed extensive DVT tests on military products while at Ampex. At SGI, Paul was responsible for the Design Verification Test (DVT) Lab managing a small group of engineers, as well as remaining an individual contributor. Duties included evaluating design performance under adverse conditions of temp/humidity, ESD, Shock & Vibration, Frequency/Voltage Margins, Power Line Surge, etc. - above and beyond industry standards.

RICK BUCK

Rick joined us in September of 2001 with 20 years experience in product compliance and certification at SEL. His experience includes working at UL for 3 years, TUV Rheinland for 2 years, and 12 prior years consulting in product safety in the Bay Area. Rick has his·BA in Philosophy and MBA in Technology Management. He is a Founding Member and former Treasurer of the IEEE Product Safety Society; a Member of the IEEE EMC, Communications and Product Safety Societies; and is a Certified ISO Quality Auditor.
