COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GREATER PETERBOROUGH

In 2007, a group of affordable housing advocates met, frustrated with short-term, piecemeal solutions to housing issues, and began searching for a way of working together to create holistic, long-term change in the community... We respectfully acknowledge that the Community Foundation operates on the traditional and Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig Territory of the Mississauga and Chippewa Nations, which includes the Mississauga of Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Alderville, and Scugog Island, and the Chippewa of Beausoleil, Georgina Island and Rama. We offer our gratitude to First Nations Peoples for their care of the land, and their teachings about this area we all call home. We recognize the colonial history of Peterborough/Nogojiwanong and our responsibility to take steps to change our attitudes and actions based on that understanding. The Community Foundation is dedicated to building relationships and working collaboratively with First Nations in our community and we pledge to continue to learn..
