Ian Dams - Treasurer

Ian Dams has over twelve years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including extensive experience related to internal and external financial reporting and analysis, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, financial assurance, technical accounting, accounting system implementation, and general accounting. Ian is a Director at Riveron in their Accounting Advisory Services practice, and serves multiple Colorado-based oil and gas companies. Prior to Riveron, Ian held industry positions at both Rosetta Resources and Noble Energy, serving in multiple roles across upstream and midstream business segments. Ian started his career at PwC in Houston in the audit group, where he primarily focused on oil and gas companies. Ian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics-Accounting from the College of the Holy Cross and is a Certified Public Accountant. Education College of the Holy Cross

Jason Poteet

Jason Poteet graduated from Metropolitan College (now University) of Denver in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting. He started with Rivington Financial Services, an outsourced oil and gas accounting firm, as a staff accountant in January 2009. In May 2016, Rivington Financial Services was acquired by EKS&H. In October 2016, Jason became the JIB Manager of the outsourced oil and gas group of EKS&H, now Plante & Moran, PLLC, Energy Accounting Solutions and is currently the Accounts Payable and Joint Interest Billing Manager. Jason joined COPAS in 2016 and passed the APA® exam in July of 2019. Jason served as the National COPAS Joint Interest Committee Chair from 2019-2021 and as the COPAS Colorado Joint Interest/Audit Committee Chair for the 2022-2023 season. Jason grew up in Canyon, Texas and moved to Denver in June 2001. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his wife. Jenny Simpson

Prior to that, Jenny worked in technical accounting at SM Energy from May 2017-March 2018 and as an auditor at EKS&H LLLP (now Plante Moran) from 2014-2017, focusing mainly on the oil and gas and hospitality industries. He works with large investment funds handling fund and partnership accounting for their entities, including administrative aspects. Ken has over 20 years of experience in technical accounting, with representative "hands-on" industry experience serving as a Controller for a mid-growth company. Ken began his career at Hein & Associates, serving as a Manager in their Energy Practice. Ken has developed broad experience in financial reporting, financial modeling, operational accounting, and strategic planning. He brings expertise in compliance with the reporting requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission, including reporting on Forms 10-Q and 10-K. Ken served as the Interim Controller at Jonah Energy, LLC. Ken is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Tanya Harris

Tanya Harris has over 20 years accounting experience with the last 18 years being in the oil and gas industry. She has spent her oil and gas career working on the operations side of accounting and has held various roles within operational accounting and joint venture audit. After graduating from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, she started her oil and gas career with a small privately-owned E&P company, with operations in Oklahoma. Moving up from there she continued to craft her skills as an operational accountant with the mid-size public company, Delta Petroleum that had operations in the Piceance, Green River, and Haynesville basins. The downturn in gas prices gave her the opportunity to work for Noble Energy. There Tanya became the Joint Venture Audit manager, responsible for all the JV audits both domestic and international. Since her time at Noble she has gone on to design and execute successful joint venture audit programs. Today she is an accounting manager at Vitesse Oil where she is responsible for all the operational accounting of the company's various satellite entities. She has also developed and now manages the company's JV audit program. Tanya is an active member of COPAS since 2008 and is currently the vice chairman of the National Audit Committee. She was a writing contributor to the rewrite of AG-19 and helped edit the new RTC MFI-XX. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her family, coaching girl's lacrosse and writing.
