COVINGTON VETERINARY HOSPITAL - Key Persons

Dr.Gerard Boston was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana and raised in Gray, Louisiana. As a child, he spent time hunting and camping in the woods near his home, usually accompanied by a pet dog. During high school, he participated in rodeo, worked on a horse farm, and volunteered at a local veterinary hospital. After graduating from H.L. Bourgeois High School, he attended Nicholls State University, receiving a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Animal Science. He then was accepted to the Louisiana State School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1990. Dr.Gerard met Dr.Kristen Boston during his senior year of veterinary school at Apex Veterinary Hospital in Apex, North Carolina. After graduating from LSU, he practiced in Georgia and Maryland. An opportunity to relocate to Louisiana came in 1996, and the Boston's purchased Covington Veterinary Hospital in 2001 where they now focus on small animal practice exclusively. Dr.Gerard lives in Covington with Dr.Kristen and their children, Luke and Claire. The Boston family also includes Australian shepherd mix Claude, blue heeler Quigley, and Audrey the cat. Dr.Gerard enjoys spending time with his family, especially opportunities to be outdoors. He also enjoys music - singing, playing guitar, and attending music festivals in our area.

Dr.Kristen Boston is a native of Munster, Indiana. She grew up loving animals, bringing home numerous stray pets. Some of these pets were adopted from the veterinarians she worked for during her junior high and high school years. She also spent time horseback riding, her favorite hobby. After high school, Dr.Kristen attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana for 2 years of undergraduate work. She was then accepted to the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1989. Following graduation, she worked as an intern at Apex Veterinary Hospital, a large mixed practice in Apex, North Carolina. That was a year of seeing all creatures- horses, cattle, dogs, cats, goats, and even some llamas! Dr.Kristen also met Dr.Gerard Boston during this internship year. They married in 1992. After practicing in Georgia and Maryland, the Boston's returned to Gerard's home state in 1996, and purchased Covington Veterinary Hospital in 2001. The Boston's live with their family in Covington. They enjoy spending time with their children, Luke and Claire, dogs, Claude and Quigley, and the family cat, Audrey.
