Arita Farjo

Arita has recently re-joined The Farjo Hair Institute team to lead our non-surgical procedures geared towards rejuvenating thinning hair. Arita spent three years with us as a Surgery Technician before leaving to complete a Physician Associate Master's degree at the University of Manchester. We are delighted to now have her back on the team and playing an integral part of The Farjo Hair Institute's non-surgical services. Arita's specialty interests include Regenera Activa's Autologous Micrografting Technology (AMT), and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments. However, additional non-surgical treatments will be available from the team very soon. These treatments can also be provided as a top-up or enhancer for those who have undergone hair transplant surgery. When asked what her favourite part of her role at The Farjo Hair Institute was, Arita said: "I love working in such a niche area with a close-knit team. Everybody at the clinic plays an important role in our patients' success stories and the collaborative approach helps set us apart. My role is very patient-focused, and I am lucky to work with people over a period of time that allows me to build strong relationships and to help make a difference to their lives."

Ashley Ward

Ashley Ward is an ex-premiership footballer, who had spells for Manchester United, Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra, Norwich City, Derby County, Barnsley, Blackburn Rovers and Bradford City. Currently, he owns and runs an interior design and build development company. Of course, he is also a TV celebrity appearing in the Real Housewives of Cheshire, where his wife, Dawn Ward, is the star of the show!

Dr Bessam Farjo

Dr Bessam Farjo along with his wife, Dr Nilofer Farjo are world-renowned and leading celebrity hair transplant surgeons. They were the first UK surgeons to perform a live hair transplant surgery on the internet and are regularly featured on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & Channel 5. Dr Bessam Farjo is also a blog writer for Huffington Post and contributor to several radio stations, as well as the 1st European President of the US-based International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) back in 2007. He is the Lead Hair Restoration Surgeon at the Manchester Clinic, and due to his wide range of experience and standing within the field, this allows him to perfectly place himself in the patient's' shoes and provide an excellent tailored service. Our co-founder, Dr Bessam Farjo, is also available to consult at 152 Harley Street on a more limited basis.

Dr Greg Williams

Dr Greg Williams has given many talks on hair related subjects including at the Scar Academy UK (St Bartholomew's Hospital, London), the Clinical Cosmetic Reconstructive Expo (Olympia, London) and the FACE Conference (Queen Elizabeth ll Conference Centre, London in September 2013. He was honoured to give the first talk on Hair restoration in the 30 year history of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and has been an invited speaker at the Royal Society of Medicine and the European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (ESPRAS) Greg has been a member of the faculty at ISHRS-Sponsored Live Surgery Workshops in Manchester and at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) 22nd Annual Scientific Meeting in Malaysia. He also lectured at the world's first ARTAS robotic assisted live surgery workshop held at the Farjo Hair Institute in November 2013 and again at the second one held in March 2014 where he has taught doctors from around the world. Dr Williams provides the highest level of care for his patients and for him it remains immensely satisfying, both personally and professionally, to be able to help patients regain their confidence by restoring their hair. Along with the rest of the Farjo team, he strives daily to use the latest techniques and technologies in the field of hair restoration surgery on his patients to help further Farjo as world leader in terms of hair transplant surgery quality, innovation, research and education.

Dr Rachael Kay

Dr Kay qualified as a doctor of medicine in 2003 from the University of Manchester. After an exceptional stint within the National Health Service for over 10 years, she joined the Farjo Hair Institute team in 2014. Dr Kay's passion for Dermatology including Scalp and Hair Pathology led her to the field of hair transplant surgery and in particular, the skilled technique of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). She dedicated a year of her time to a fellowship training in all aspects of hair restoration with Drs Farjo in Manchester prior to commencing work. Dr Kay holds some of the most respected qualifications including a Post Graduate Diploma in Dermatology, as well as being an active member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, where she continues to serve in the NHS on a part time basis. In 2016, she was able to pass on her knowledge to beginner doctors at the ISHRS-sponsored European Hair Transplant Workshop at the Farjo Hair Institute in Manchester. Dr Kay provides an outstanding level of patient-centred care, focusing on the patient's experience and outcomes. She, along with the rest of the Farjo team strive to apply the latest techniques and research in the field of hair restoration surgery, and continues to help the Institute enhance its status as a centre of excellence.

Glynn Purnell

Job Titles:
  • Starred TV Chef
Glynn is an English chef, restaurateur and television personality. Described by the Birmingham Post as "undoubtably the finest chef to hail from Chelmsley Wood", he is the proprietor and Head Chef at Purnell's restaurant in Birmingham, England, which was awarded a Michelin star in January 2009, and won the AA Restaurant of the Year award in September of the same year. Purnell is a regular presenter and chef on BBC show Saturday Kitchen. He has also appeared as judge on Come Dine With Me - Champion of Champions, and featured on Secret Kitchen and Great British Menu. In 2017, he helmed 40 episodes of My Kitchen Rules for its third series. After much research, and on the recommendation of another clinic in Birmingham, he approached the Farjo Hair Institute about his hair loss in November 2017. He has since had 2 FUE procedures in 2018 and 2020 totalling 3346 grafts (7885 hairs). He also fully understood the value of maintaining the remainder of his hair as well as supporting his hair transplant, and started using Hair loss medications to this effect.

Peter Reid

Peter Reid is an English football manager, pundit and retired footballer. A defensive midfielder in his playing days, Reid enjoyed a long and successful career. He started his career at Bolton Wanderers, before signing for Everton in 1982 helping the club win domestic and European honours, including the 1st division title twice and the European Cup Winners Cup. He was voted as the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 1985 and came fourth in the World Soccer Player of the Year award, behind Michel Platini, Preben Elkjær and Diego Maradona. He represented England at the 1986 FIFA World Cup and 1988 UEFA European Championship. He won 13 caps in total, and was in the team that played in the infamous ‘Hand of God' world cup quarter final against Argentina. He also played for Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City, before being appointed manager of the latter and enjoying a successful spell. He also famously managed Sunderland, where he achieved promotion to the Premier League on two occasions and achieved two seventh-place finishes in the top division. Peter had 2 hair transplant procedures using the FUE harvesting method mainly to extend his hairline backwards to cover the top in 2016. He is a naturally confident character, but felt his hair loss betrayed how he felt and thought the mirror showed a different person! Sara Roberts

2016 marked Sara Roberts' 20th year at Farjo and those of you that have visited us before will definitely know her friendly face! Sara joined Farjo in 1996 as a registered nurse and hair transplant technician. As surgery manager, she is responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the operating suites and the recruitment and ongoing training of the surgical staff. For over two decades, Sara has developed into a cornerstone of the practice and a true advocate of our methods and philosophy in her position as Surgery Manager. In 2016, and in true Farjo tradition, she became the first European hair transplant nurse to chair the Surgical Assistants Program of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) World Congress that took place in Las Vegas, USA. In 2018, she surpassed that by becoming the first European to be awarded the ISHRS ‘Distinguished Assistant Award', the highest honour in our field. It took place in a glamorous ceremony at the World Congress in Hollywood, USA.
