FLEMING YACHTS - Key Persons
Like Tony, Duncan was trained in the aeronautical industry. He was employed as an avionics engineer with a commercial airline in the UK for seven years. He then changed tack and took up professional sailing onboard a variety of large yachts, working as engineer/captain in places as far afield as the Arctic Circle, Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
Duncan's extensive ocean-going experience has been of great value to the company. Duncan is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Fleming Yachts including the financial management of the company and the design of the electrical systems throughout the Fleming range. He spends much of his time at the Tung Hwa factory in Taiwan but travels extensively to boats shows and Fleming dealers worldwide. His personal contact with Fleming owners provides feedback to the factory where "The Ultimate Cruising Yacht" continues to evolve utilizing today's latest technology.
Nicky Fleming was born in Hong Kong where her father, Tony Fleming was working for American Marine. She then moved to Singapore and later to England for college. Nicky trained in cooking and worked in restaurants in UK and later in California.
When Tony's business partner Anton Emmerton died, Nicky stepped in to help Tony with general administrative work for Fleming Yachts. For five years, she and Tony were the only employees of Fleming Yachts. Nicky is now enjoying her position as director of marketing, based in California.

Tony Fleming, a British born U.S. citizen, has been called a Renaissance man, having the skills of an engineer and the eye of an artist. He has lived and worked all over the world. He started his boatbuilding career with American Marine in Hong Kong first building wooden boats and then on to fibreglass. Over the next 20 years he had a hand in designing and producing countless types of boats and yachts, most notably the Grand Banks brand of motor yachts. In 1985 he took his idea of a new pilothouse yacht design to Taiwan. He selected the Tung Hwa factory and started what has become the Fleming legacy.
Since Tony took delivery of Fleming 65 hull number one 'VENTURE' in January 2005, he has cruised more than 60,000 nautical miles from the farthest reaches of Alaska to the Galapagos Islands, Iceland, and Europe. All the while using the yacht as a test bed for new ideas and equipment. This crucial experience is fed back to the team at Fleming yachts directly to improve the yachts under design and construction. As importantly, he's finally getting the opportunity to enjoy cruising and devote time to his passion for videography. Tony has officially retired from the boatbuilding side of the business and handed over the running of the company to Adi and Duncan, but he remains our figurehead and ambassador of the company he founded.
