GARD

GARD is a Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) certified, professional volunteer Search and Rescue (SAR) resource available to assist authorities with lost, or missing people in urban, wilderness or disaster settings as well as human remains detection and recovery... GARD is committed to educating the community about what to do in a situation where they become lost. GARD distributes educational material and participates in community events on a regular basis to continue our public relations with the Hampton Roads community... In addition to our search team members and their canine partners, GARD deploys with wilderness & first aid equipment, a mobile base of operations providing radio communications, and computers with topographic mapping and printing.
