Jared Markiewicz - CEO, Founder

Jared Markiewicz is the founder and CEO of Functional Integrated Training, Madison's go-to strength and performance facility for people from all walks of life. Since opening in 2012, Jared has worked with a wide array of athletes including middle schoolers, collegiate and professional athletes, as well as adults - all looking to find the best version of themselves. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with emphasis in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He's also a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT), an Advanced Sport Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting, a Level 2 Functional Movement Screen Specialist, a certified IYCA High School Strength & Conditioning Coach, a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach (PN1) and a golf fitness instructor through Titleist Performance Institute. Jared sits on the advisory board for the IYCA and is a professional member of both the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Weightlifting. He also loves to smile and make people happy, both inside and outside the gym. Having young daughters allows Jared to be a kid again himself, making him realize the need for the opportunity to feel young and playful. He feels everyone should make it a point to laugh HARD and do something fun every day, especially if it involves your spouse and kids! Jared enjoys spending quality time with a barbell, relaxing with a good book and qualifies himself a coffee, beer and bourbon snob.

Maggie Gleason

Maggie joined the F.I.T team in October 2022 as the FIT Client Experience Coordinator and Assistant Coach. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Maggie brings with her 7 years of experience in guest service from her time as the food pantry coordinator and executive director of Badger Prairie Needs Network in Verona. Matt DeFiebre

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Science and Performance Programming from Arizona State University and is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the NSCA. Originally from Oregon, WI, Matthew worked as a personal trainer at ASU's campus gym, volunteered with ASU Sports Performance, and completed an internship with EXOS. With ASU Sports Performance, he worked with the wrestling, women's basketball, women's triathlon, and gymnastics teams. At EXOS, he worked with the NFL Off Season, high school, and Phoenix Rising youth soccer groups. Matthew played baseball in high school and completed a 102-mile road bike race during college. These days, Matthew enjoys camping, hiking, and road tripping, as well as all types of chocolate. He has ridden a camel in the Sahara, gives his mom's dog lots of pets, listens to country music, and he is addicted to peanut butter.

Max Dallman

Max completed a short internship at FIT prior to becoming a full-time strength coach in December 2013. For eight years prior to joining the F.I.T. staff, he served as a gymnastics coach at Madtown Twisters. He was also an intern at CORE Health and Fitness in the summers of 2012 and 2013. Currently, Max serves as a volunteer strength coach for the Verona High School girls swimming team. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the spring of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science. He's also certified as a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting. As a competitive Olympic weightlifter himself, Max won the 85-kilogram class at the 2016 Wisconsin LWC Championships and the 94-kilogram class at the same event in 2017 and took third place at the Badger State Games in 2018. He also qualified for and participated in the American Open in Reno, NV in 2015. He competed in varsity football and track and field in high school. Max has tried every flavor of Mountain Dew, loves ice cream and enjoys eating contests. He also loves playing video games, spending time outside, listening to rock music and reading up on strength sports. He hates heights, can recite around 30 digits of pi and once fell through a wall trying to lift weights!

Rachel Scrivner

Rachel was a member for a few years before joining the FIT team in January 2019. She's a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Prior to joining FIT, Rachel ran her own daycare business for sixteen years. She is personable, cares about the needs of FIT clients and is a lot of fun to talk to! Rachel has been active in one form or another her entire life. She played softball, ran track, cross country and spent a lot of time skiing in the winter. As an adult athlete, Rachel has been a runner (completing a half marathon, Ragnar and shorter races), a powerlifter, competed in a strongman competition and is a competitive Olympic weightlifter on the West Madison Weightlifting team.She loves to spend time with her husband Brad (who is also a FIT member), their 3 kids and 2 dogs. In whatever spare time she can find, you will most likely find Rachel knitting, reading, baking or finding someone to hug...she loves hugs!

Sam Hebert

Sam completed an internship at FIT during the fall of 2021 and joined the staff as an assistant coach at the start of 2022. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated in the spring of 2018. Sam is also an avid Ultimate Frisbee player and has competed at the highest levels of college and club, going to nationals in both divisions and earning second team All-Region honors during his senior year in college. Since joining the staff he has also begun learning Olympic weightlifting and hopes to compete in the future. He is most interested in using strength and conditioning to allow people to live active lifestyles and participate in whatever sports or activities they enjoy the most.

Shawn Smith

Shawn holds two master's degrees. She's also an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer & a certified behavior change specialist, an E-RYT 200-hour yoga teacher, a certified barre instructor and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach. She has been an athlete all of her life, having run a number of road races, including a full marathon. Fun fact, she won a frozen turkey in a mountain bike race. As a founding member, Shawn has been with F.I.T. from the very beginning. She's trained in FIT Foundations, FIT Athlete Training, and four years ago made her way to the platform with Olympic Weightlifting as part of the West Madison Weightlifting Team. At the age of 50, she holds two Wisconsin State Masters Records in Weightlifting. In 2018 she joined the F.I.T. team as PR Manager, and in 2019 she took on a second role as an Assistant Coach. Shawn loves Starbucks and her Frenchie more than most anything in life - but her two boys and husband do make it into the top ranks too.

Veronica Hummel

After completing an internship, Veronica joined the FIT team as an Assistant Coach in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Colorado State University. In addition, she's also a Certified Personal Trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), a Certified Pre- and Postnatal Coach through the Girls Gone Strong Coaching and Training Women Academy and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach. After seven years working in the nonprofit sector, Veronica wanted a new challenge and began studying fitness on her own time before deciding to make it a career. She loves helping people get stronger and become better versions of themselves. She takes that to heart in her own training and has trained through two pregnancies and postpartum periods and competed in Weightlifting and Strongman. When she's not lifting or coaching she enjoys good coffee, books, time with friends and family, and being outside (except in the winter). She has recently learned a lot about construction vehicles with her three young sons.
