The UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences is dedicated to improving health and reducing the burden of disease in the world's most vulnerable populations... IGHS aspires to build a broadly diverse and inclusive faculty, student and staff community that reflects the partners and communities we collaborate with globally... We began as the Institute for Global Health in 1999 when Haile T. Debas, MD, and Edward Penhoet, PhD, established a joint Institute and recruited Richard Feachem, KBE, PhD, DSc, as the director.
