On October 8, 1985, Christoph Thoma founds Herkules USA (HUSA) in Memphis, Tennessee. Eleven years later, the company acquires RD&D in Erie, Pennsylvania. The sales company Herkules North America (HNA) and HCC/KPM, manufacturer of machine controls, are also headquartered here. In 1999, Herkules merged with Kube & Plekker Microsystems (KPM), an industry known supplier of roll grinder control & measuring systems, based in Ford City, Pennsylvania. Today, Herkules USA specializes in manufacturing new roll grinders and new roll lathes, and in the modernization of older machines.
