Bradd G. Burkhart, M.D., earned a doctorate in medicine with honors in Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of Maryland. He served as a resident at Orlando Regional Medical Center and was "Resident of the Year" among all residents in all programs. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Wellington Orthopaedics and University of Cincinnati Sports Medicine Fellowship. Following his fellowship, he practiced in Asheville, NC, prior to returning to Central Florida.
Dr. Burkhart is board certified and fellowship trained in orthopaedic surgery, arthroscopy, and holds additional board certification in orthopaedic sports medicine. Previously, Dr. Burkhart worked as assistant team physician for the University of Cincinnati and the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, where he helped football and basketball players recover quickly and return to high level athletics. He brings that advanced knowledge to his practice here in Orlando. Dedicated to athletics, he works as team physician for numerous local high schools in Central Florida. Bryce T. Austell, M.D., is from Chicago, Illinois. He studied Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before pursuing his Doctor of Medicine at Rush Medical College. While in medical school, he researched aerospace medicine, publishing a report about the effect of space flight on astronaut health. During this time, he worked as a liaison between Rush Medical College and Midwest Orthopaedics and also served as President of both the Student Council and Rush University PRIDE.
Dr. Bryce Austell remained in Chicago after graduation to complete his residency in anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center and continued conducting research in anesthesiology and orthopaedic surgery. His research included clinical studies on airway management and both acute and chronic pain management (prescription pain relief methods post-surgery, nerve blocks, and neuromodulation). During his final year, he was selected as Chief Resident and helped lead his colleagues in combating COVID at the height of the pandemic.
He then went on to complete a multidisciplinary fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Northwestern University Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Throughout his studies and career, Dr. Austell's work has been accompanied by a focus on community outreach. He has used various leadership roles to advocate for wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the hospitals and cities where he has worked. Prior to joining Orlando Orthopaedic Center, Mr. Hines worked for over seven years as an orthopaedic physician assistant (PA-C) where he gained experience in trauma, total joint replacement and sports medicine procedures.
Raised in Orlando, FL, Dr. Van Dyke displayed his love for the state of Florida by attending Florida State University where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in biology. Furthermore, he went on to the University of South Florida where he received a master's degree in molecular cell biology (thesis based). He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and completed the highly regarded course of honors surgery.
Dr. Van Dyke completed his orthopedic training at Tulane Hospital and Clinics Department of Orthopaedics and was part of the last group of residents to train at the famous Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA before hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Dr. Van Dyke was honored by the faculty at Tulane by being selected the "super" chief resident in 2004-2005.
After residency, Dr. Van Dyke returned to Orlando in 2005 to pursue his passions: God, family, and of course, orthopaedic surgery. His wife, Stephanie, is also a native of Orlando, and they have the privilege and honor of raising 4 children.
Dr. Van Dyke is an active member of the Orlando community. He was previously the team physician for Edgewater High School and is currently the team physician for South Orlando Soccer Club. He also volunteers his time to Blanker School as well as the Arnold Palmer PGA tour event. Dr. Van Dyke serves on the Orlando Health Medical Economics Outcomes Committee for Orthopaedics and has hospital and surgical privileges in the Orlando Health system of hospitals, Sand Lake Surgery Center, and Orlando Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery Center.
