Godfrey Mhembere

Job Titles:
  • Senior Mining Engineer
Mr. Mhembere is a Senior Mining Engineer with over 40 years of experience in underground and surface mining of gold, nickel, and copper in Zimbabwe, and a variety of surface and underground mines in the western United States and South America. Mr. Mhembere joined Roughstock Mining in 2012. Godfrey's experience includes underground mine design in a variety of mines and metals using Vulcan and Deswik software, in which he has extensive experience using. Some of the projects that Mr. Mhembere has been involved includes co-ordination of major mine expansion, short, medium, and long-term development and production planning, and design of vertical development for muck movement, and mine drainage programs. He has also designed and scheduled open pit mines for a variety of minerals.

Jason Todd

Job Titles:
  • Senior Geologist and Mine Planner
Jason is a Professional Geologist with 23 years of experience at a variety of underground mines and underground petroleum production sites. Mr. Todd has a variety of experience in project management, production engineering, and production geology. He is versed in underground mine design using Derswik and Vulcan software, LOM planning, ventilation engineering, project, scheduling, and equipment selection. Mr. Todd is an expert with Deswik scheduling software and has completed a number of large Life-of-mine (LOM) development and mining schedules.

Josh Walton

Job Titles:
  • General Manager
Mr. Walton is a 25-year veteran of the mining industry, having held various technical positions at numerous mines in the Western US and Alaska. Having spent time in Engineering, Production, and Maintenance, his background is very diverse. Josh has managed projects in all stages of development, including startups. He was a key member of a team that developed an innovative method of recovering oil from depleted reservoirs, from an underground chamber. He helped design, permit, and construct the state-of-the-art facility which included a 900' vertical shaft, 1500' of lateral workings, and ultimately 90,000 feet of directionally drilled well bore. Their focus on safety won them the Sentinels of Safety award (2015). This facility is still in production today. Mr. Walton's technical skills include mine design using Autocad, Deswik, and Vulcan, ventilation modeling with Vent-Sim, mine permitting, equipment emissions testing & modeling, and all methods of surveying utilizing theodolite, total station, Hovermap scanners, RTK GPS, and now Drones. Josh is also an expert in mine maintenance & maintenance planning. He has managed fleets & maintenance activities of both underground and surface mining equipment of all sizes, ranging from underground slushers to surface shovels & draglines.

Larry Carr

Job Titles:
  • Alaska Division Manager & Mining Consultant
Mr. Carr has over a decade of experience working in underground mining and 15 years of experience in supervision and project management in various fields with an extensive background including technical roles in production planning and contractor oversight. Larry is an expert in the SLE mining method from concept and design to long-hole drilling and blasting to asset and manpower management. Mr. Carr has extensive working knowledge in various other underground extraction methods as well holding supervisory and planning rolls in narrow vein mining including mechanical cut and fill, captive cut and fill, driving production drift, and mine development.

Shane Ogle

  • Chief Drone Pilot & Senior Surveyor
Shane is a Senior Surveyor with 11 years of surface surveying experience, specializing in GPS and robotic total station work for surface mining, oil & gas development, and modern construction. His experience ranges from doing precision boundary surveys for an RLS, to flying a number of different drones for LIDAR scanning. Shane has extensive experience flying DJI Matrice series Drones, Fixed Wing Drones, and holds a FAA Part 107 Pilots license.

Steve Cutler

Job Titles:

Mr. Cutler has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry including open pit and underground mining for a variety of minerals in the western United States, Mexico, Canada, Chile, and Brazil. He has acquired expertise in underground mine design, underground mine management and has held positions of Chief Engineer, Technical Service Manager, and General Mine Manager. Mr. Cutler has helped design and manage a number of underground mines using transverse, and longitudinal long hole mining, overhand and underhand cut and fill, and a large variety of other bulk and narrow vein underground mining methods. He has held supervisory positions in a capacity over technical design of underground mine development and stoping since 2000.

Tom Johannesmeyer

Tom Johannesmeyer is a Senior Geologist and mining consultant, working for Rough Stock since 2021. Tom earned his master's degree in Geology from the University of Montana and has twenty-five years of combined experience as a mining, petroleum, and environmental geologist, and as geology and physics professor. Tom has taught geology & physics classes at Highland Community College in Freeport, IL, and at University of Wyoming's Sheridan College.

Walt Frese

Job Titles:
  • Warehouse & Delivery
Walt is a Marine, having served our country proudly during Vietnam. After his time in the service, Walt became a an OTR driver, a profession that he continued for 52 years, driving many millions of miles across the USA. He retired from that profession to join our Bit & Steel supply operation in Greycliff in 2022. If you visit our Greycliff operation you will no doubt meet Walt. Not only does he ensure that the warehouse stay secure and orderly, he lives next door, providing a level of security that is hard to beat!

William Begg

Job Titles:
  • Senior Planning Engineer & Mining Consultant
William comes to Rough Stock with 33 years of divirsified mining experience that ranges from geology & engineering in open pit and underground mines in the continental USA and Western Austrailia. Mr. Begg is an expert at using Deswik for mining engineering and production scheduling. He is also well versed in reserve generation and reporting, having a BSc in Geology from Appalachian State University.
