Adam C. Nelson, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of surgery with the University of Arizona Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn & Emergency Surgery.
Dr. Nelson attended the University of California at San Diego for undergraduate training in mechanical engineering and the University of Utah for master's study in biomedical engineering. He received his medical degree from the University of Utah and completed surgical residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He then went on to complete a fellowship in acute care surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, NC.
Dr. Nelson's clinical interests include predicting patient outcomes after thoracic trauma, characterization of resident readiness for emergency surgery, and engineering innovations in surgery.

Alexandra Turner, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of surgery in the University of Arizona Department of Surgery, Section of Abdominal Transplant Surgery.
Dr. Turner attended Princeton University and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in molecular biology. She received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed general surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine. During her clinical training, she completed a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship in transplant immunology at the Emory Transplant Center under the mentorship of Dr. Christian Larsen and Dr. Allan Kirk. Dr. Turner subsequently completed her abdominal transplant fellowship at the Emory Transplant Center. Dually trained in abdominal transplant surgery and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, she completed her HPB fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Turner specializes in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation as well as pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgery. Her research has focused on novel co-stimulation blockade-based immunosuppression regimens and the context-dependent role of rapamycin in determining the immune response. Her work has been published in high impact journals including Nature and Nature Medicine.

Allison Rottman, DPM, is a clinical assistant professor with the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of Arizona Department of Surgery. She is a podiatric surgeon with special interest and extensive experience in wound care and limb salvage.
Dr. Rottman is a native of Decatur, IL, and earned her BA in psychology from Bloomington, IL-based Illinois Wesleyan University. In 2013, she graduated with her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, IL. In 2016, she completed a podiatry residency with Mt. Sinai/Lovell Federal Health Care Center, also located in Chicago. Prior to joining the department, Dr. Rottman held positions at St. Mary's Hospital and Decatur Memorial Hospital in her hometown of Decatur, IL.

James A. Warneke, MD, FACS, is a professor in the Department of Surgery Division of Surgical Oncology, where he is currently the interim division chief. He joined the faculty at the University of Arizona's College of Medicine in the Department of Surgery, Section of Surgical Oncology in 1991.
From 1992-2002, Dr. Warneke was the medical student clerkship director and then served as the residency director from 2001-2009. Before joining the Department of Surgery here at the University of Arizona, he was an assistant professor at the State University of New York. Dr. Warneke completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Arizona. Dr. Warneke earned his Bachelor of Science with honors in biomedical sciences at the University of California in Riverside, California.
Dr. Warneke is involved in various research endeavors that allow him to continue to provide his patients with the most up-to-date treatment options available. Dr. Warneke's research involves the treatment of skin malignancies, especially melanoma and sarcoma. His other research, conducted in the laboratory, consists of examining thymocyte receptor expression in melanoma, which is used to study the progression and prevention of melanoma. He is also co-principal investigator on a program project grant for the study of chemoprevention of skin cancer from the National Cancer Institute belonging to David Alberts, MD. Dr. Warneke is also a co-investigator on several Arizona Cancer Center clinical gene therapy studies funded by Vical, Inc. and coordinated by Evan Hersh, MD.
