Mr. Cornelius Sadler - President

Job Titles:
  • PRESIDENT
President Sadler was asked to guide the CDC by Dr. John Mendez, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. As an original member, he brings managerial and financial skills to the CDC. "Sandy" believes that the newsletters, forums, community involvement, word of mouth, and Ujima's activities will keep the community abreast about our mission.

Mr. Hobart Jones - VP

Job Titles:
  • VICE PRESIDENT
Mr. Jones has provided exemplary leadership that has been visionary and energizing to an assortment of local organizations. He serves on the governing body of Emmanuel Baptist Church, serves as a mentor and Chair of the Carver Alumni Association, and serves as the president of Winston-Salem State University's "Hoops" Group. Hobart Jones has for decades been an example of these values in Winston-Salem.

Ms. Barbara Lee - Treasurer

Job Titles:
  • TREASURER
Mrs. Barbara Lee, also a retired teacher, joined the board in the fall of 2009. She actually recruited Emmanuel Baptist Church members to participate in Ujima's activities before joining the board. She is a strong supporter of the mission. Barbara also operates Comfort Tours and Travel, Inc., which sharpens her business skills.

Ms. Carolyn Hardin

  • SECRETARY
Our secretary, Ms. Carolyn Hardin was introduced to Ujima CDC by Tameka White, former Executive Director of Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods in 2007. Her tenure began in 2008. Carolyn has experiences in fund development for nonprofits as well as management and public relations skills. She believes that mass media, Facebook, Twitter, and the Internet are the keys to informing the public. She is excited about providing clean, comfortable and affordable living space.

Tameka White
