Dr. Pang is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. His research interests include visual surveillance, machine vision for surface defect detection, optical communications, expert systems for control system design, intelligent control and intelligent transportation systems. He is in charge of the Industrial Automation Research Lab. Dr. Pang has acted as a consultant to many companies, including Mitsubishi Electric Corp. in Japan, Northern Telecom and Imperial Oil Ltd. in Canada, MTR Corp. and COTCO Int. Ltd. in Hong Kong. In 1994, he worked as a Senior Visiting Researcher at Hitachi Research Lab. in Japan.
