Alan Berkeley

Alan Berkeley joined Home Base in June 2022 after spending 2 ½ years with the MGH Dept. of Radiology, where he served as Administrative Manager of the Breast Imaging Research Center, providing support for all aspects of award management such as proposal development, expense oversight, IRB-related matters, cost-sharing, subrecipient management, effort reporting, and overall compliance. Prior to coming to MGH, Alan spent 10 years with Harvard University, serving in a variety of roles including Senior Grants Manager & Team Lead, as well as Manager of Research Finance & Compliance. Alan earned a BA from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Fitchburg State University, and before embarking on a career in research administration, Alan spent 15 years in the financial services industry. With close relatives who have served in the military in combat roles, one of the reasons Alan was drawn to this position was for the mission of Home Base, providing invaluable support to those who have served our country.

Alex Leone

Alexander Hohl

Job Titles:
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Alexander Hohl is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor on the Home Base Social Work Team. Prior to Home Base, Alex worked as Clinical Director of a residential substance use treatment program supporting individuals entering long-term recovery. He has further experience working with individuals seeking recovery and care at Transitional Stabilization service and experience working with Veterans experiencing chronic homelessness. Alex received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston and his Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a concentration in military and Veteran's psychology, at William James College. Alex served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty from 2008-2012 with 1 st Battalion, 6 th Marine Regiment, serving two combat deployments in Helmand Province, Afghanistan: Operation Moshtarak in 2010 and Operations Eastern & Western Storm in 2011-12. Alex was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2016. Prior to his graduate work, Alex was a member of the Home Base Veteran Outreach team from 2016-17 working in Home Base's Intensive Clinical Program.

Allison Morgan

Allison Morgan graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University in 2018 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience. As an undergraduate, Allison was involved in multiple research labs and completed one of her co-op experiences at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, where she recruited patients for studies examining insomnia and chronic fatigue. Allison had the opportunity to work for a pediatric neuropsychologist at Rhode Island Hospital after completing her undergraduate coursework. Recently, Allison obtained her M.A. from Boston College in Mental Health Counseling. These experiences have shaped Allison's interest in neuropsychological testing and research. After her time at Home Base, Allison plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Allison Rivera

Staff Sergeant Allison Rivera has been serving in the United States Army Reserve since 2012 as a biomedical equipment technician. She was deployed in 2014-2015 to Qatar and Afghanistan, and she just returned in April from a deployment to Kuwait as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Medical Maintenance. Staff Sergeant Allison Rivera has received multiple awards so far in her career such as the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. She also served as the Equal Opportunity Leader for her unit while deployed from 2022-2023. Allison was promoted out of her Medical Maintenance unit and into a Military Intelligence unit at Fort Devens, MA, and, in kind, looked for new opportunities outside of the civilian medical maintenance field. She came to Home Base as an internal transfer from MGH's Biomedical Engineering department. She enjoys being able to blend her military experience with her passion to help others in her community. She has participated in the Run to Home Base and explored the Warrior Health and Fitness program, and looks forward to further engaging with all that Home Base has to offer. Allison is a Massachusetts native, but holds a Master's Degree in Forensic Medicine from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Forensics from Mercyhurst University.

Angela "Clare" Stupinski

Angie De Lima

Angie De Lima serves Home Base Florida as the Operations and Special Projects Manager. She manages multiple behavior health projects, program expansions, and activities at varies phases of project implementation. Angie assist in the development of short- and long-term plans for outpatient programs; Monitoring progress and evaluating performance outcomes at partner facilities. Prior to Home Base, Angie worked at the Lee County Tax Collector's Office (LCTC) as a Communications Specialist. She co-managed the Communications Department and was responsible for working with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and implement strategies to improve the agency's marketing and public relations initiatives. Angie is an Air Force Veteran. As Security Forces, she deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Haiti. In 2011, she cross-trained into Material Management and served the Delaware Air National Guard. After completing her enlistment, she relocated to Fort Myers, Florida. Angie has B.A. in Communication from Florida Gulf Coast University. In her spare time, she loves to host dinners and game nights with her husband.

Ann Stewart

Ann Stewart is a clinical social worker at Home Base. Stewart became interested in helping Service Members, Veterans and Families following a medical social work internship at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA, where she helped patients and family members cope with TBI and trauma on the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Stewart also worked with patients at Lahey North Breast Cancer Center. In addition, she has worked with adolescents who have depression, anxiety and autism. Stewart is a graduate of Wake Forest University and of Simmons School of Social Work.

April Bravo-Flores

April grew up in Chelsea, MA, and graduated from Chelsea High School. During high school, she participated in community service work and later became Vice President of the Interact Club, a Rotary-sponsored service club. Service work encouraged her to recognize and develop leadership. The Rotary Interact motto, Service above Self, translates to her excitement and commitment to join the Home Base Team. She cares deeply for serving Veterans and their families respectfully. Before joining Home Base, she worked in a retail pharmacy (3 years) as a pharmacy technician and earned an immunizer certification during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience allowed her to explore and gain valuable insight into healthcare. While also strengthening her customer service skills alongside a skilled team of healthcare professionals. April is a Suffolk University alumni with a Bachelor of Science degree. She has a major in Psychology, with a double minor in Philosophy and Public Relations. She worked in the Philosophy Department at Suffolk University (4 years) and helped organize department events. These events provided students and professors the chance to speak about topics outside of classrooms (Q & A panels, debates, and presentations that discussed politics, economics, and philosophy). April's fields of study taught her valuable critical thinking and communication skills. She is honored to join the Home Base team.

Armando Hernandez

Born and raised in Naples, Florida and currently lives in Fort Myers with his wife of 18 years, Jina Hernandez and their two children, Lilliana & Xavier. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2002 before graduating from Naples High School in June 2003. Immediately following graduation, Armando departed for Marine Corps Basic Training at Parris Island, South Carolina. During his enlistment he served from 2003-2007 as an Engineer Equipment Operator, which included a deployment to Fallujah, Iraq with 2nd Combat Logistics Battalion in 2005. After his enlistment, Armando was honorably discharged and returned home to Southwest Florida to begin my pursuit of higher education. While enrolled at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) he majored in Exercise Science was selected for a highly competitive internship with the Boston Red Sox Strength and Conditioning Staff for the spring of 2014. While conducting the internship with the Boston Red Sox, Armando was introduced to Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital program dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for Veterans, Service Members, and Families. Armando accepted a position in 2014 to pilot Home Base's health and wellness efforts and expand into the Florida region. Since then, the Florida program has grown exponentially serving thousands of Veterans & Families throughout the state. Armando, currently serves as the Senior Director of Florida, leads a team of combat Veterans overseeing the day-to-day operations. Most recently, to best serve in his current role at Home Base, Armando pursued and obtained an MBA from the Hough Graduate School of Business at the University of Florida.

Betsy Hart

Betsy is the wife of an active duty Naval Aviator and knows first-hand the joys and struggles of military life. Over the last 18 years, she and her family have found their way through nine moves, six deployments and countless detachments. She has spent the last 14 years as a full time mom to three military children. In addition to her adult life experience, Betsy is the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and a child and family therapist. Home Base's mission to heal the invisible wounds of war is deeply personal to her. Betsy has a degree in Communication from Florida State University. She served as a volunteer for Home Base for 18 months before joining the team as a Family Outreach Coordinator at the end of 2018.

BG Dyer

BG Dyer has served as the President of the GEN Douglas MacArthur Chapter of the Association of the United States Army and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Hampton Roads USO. He currently also serves on the Board of Advisors/Executive Committee for two other Veterans Organizations.

Bill Davidson

Bill Davidson is the Senior Director of Veteran Outreach, Peer Support and Volunteers. Prior to joining Home Base, he served as a Command Sergeant Major with the Massachusetts Army National Guard (MAARNG). Retiring with 34 years of service in 2018 his last assignment was the Senior Enlisted Advisor (SEA) to the Command Group. CSM Davidson also served as the Director of the Resilience, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention Program for the MAARNG. He deployed to Afghanistan/Pakistan/and Uzbekistan in 2002-2003 as the First Sergeant of a Military Police (MP) Unit. In 2011-2012 CSM Davidson deployed to Kabul Afghanistan, where he was the Task Force Command Sergeant Major and the SEA for a multi-national security force of 3,000 personnel, providing security and support for 11 U.S. installations, and 10,000 coalition members conducting counterinsurgency operations, humanitarian assistance and area support missions. His numerous awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Commendation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. CSM Davidson was also awarded the Marechausse Medal (Silver) from the MP Regiment. He is a retired Manchester-by-the Sea, MA police officer, with over 25 years of loyal and dedicated service to the community. CSM Davidson holds a master's degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Western New England College and a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College.

Caitlin Kennedy

Caitlin Kennedy, RN, is a Registered Nurse and Case Manager with the Home Base TBI team. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in 2014. Caitlin comes to Home Base with several years' experience working with patients who have sustained traumatic brain injuries, among other neurological illnesses, as a neuroscience nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. During this time, she received certification as a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse. She works closely with the Traumatic Brain Injury team to complete two-day evaluations and in the Outpatient TBI clinic, and she is brings her specific experience with working with patients and families on their healing journey, to create fuller evaluation process and treatment plan. Also an avid runner, Caitlin has run six marathons and many half marathons, and proudly represents Home Base in the annual Run to Home Base fundraiser.

Camille Marquez

Camille Marquez graduated from UCLA in 2023 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Community Engagement and Social Change. As an undergraduate student, Camille worked as a research assistant for the Treatment and Research for the Underserved with Stress and Trauma Lab at UCLA to help lead a study focusing on the feasibility and effectiveness of a PTSD treatment among adolescents. She also worked as a research assistant at the Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health working on several studies investigating the relationship between stressful events and psychological and physical health outcomes. During her senior year, Camille completed an honors thesis examining trauma treatment perceptions among Latino adolescents. Camille is interested in pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology to further study the effects of traumatic events throughout the lifespan among diverse populations.

Carolyn Casey

As Assistant Director, Carolyn oversees the Race for Home Base Program. Since joining Home Base in 2018, she has grown the program from one race to eight national and international races in 2024. Carolyn is involved in several other Home Base signature events such as the Veterans Day Televent, Run to Home Base, and Veterans Day Dinner. She also manages the volunteer program working closely with corporate supporters seeking employee engagement opportunities. In addition to managing several events, Carolyn maintains a small portfolio of donors. Prior to joining Home Base, Carolyn served as a Development Assistant at Community Rowing Inc., where she developed strategic fundraising campaigns to grow their donor base. Before Community Rowing Inc., Carolyn developed her event expertise over several years working for Cuisine Chez Vous. Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Design and Corporate Communication from Bentley University in Waltham, MA.

Charlotte Magee

Charlotte graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University with a B.A. in Clinical Psychology, and Theater and Performance Studies. During her undergraduate career, Charlotte worked as a research assistant in Tufts' Cognitive Development Lab, recruiting for and conducting a study analyzing the development of mechanical reasoning in elementary school aged children, and interned at Melmark New England, where she worked as an Applied Behavioral Analysis Counseling Intern with adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. As a lifelong performer in both music and theater, Charlotte is particularly interested in the therapeutic benefits that the arts can have, specifically in the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, acute trauma, and complex grief. After her time at Home Base, Charlotte plans on pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Chelley Carroll-Worth

Michelle ("Chelley") is a Philadelphia native, graduating from Johnson & Wales University (PVD) in 2006, currently pursuing her MA in Military Psychology from Adler University, and a member of APA Division 19. She holds certifications in Innovative and Evidence-Based Strategies for Addressing Veteran and Service Member Suicide Risk, Elements of the Assessment Process and Intimate Partner Violence: Assessment and Response with Military-Connected Couples, Essentials in Military Cultural Competence, and Psychological Impact of Military to Civilian Transition from Th e Center for Deployment Psychology. Her career goals include defining and improving satisfaction with the military lifestyle and fostering resilience in service members and their families. Aside from education, she brings personal military experience as a Navy Command Ombudsman, Navy spouse, and Army National Guard parent. Her familiarity with the military lifestyle and transition processes inspires her pursuit of a career supporting the individuals and families who serve. Additionally, Chelley is a Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) and cycling and kickboxing instructor. As a wife and busy mom-of-three, she does not waste a moment of Life. She fills her free time watching sports, playing golf, and going on long walks with her three dogs, Hokie, Maverick, and Philly in her Boston-suburb neighborhood.

Cheryl Brathwaite

Cheryl has been with Home Base for over three years as the Executive Staff Assistant to retired Brigadier General Jack Hammond and Grant Iverson. She is also the School Liaison for Home Base's Staying Strong initiative. Cheryl did not have to move far from her last job after working at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Proton Therapy Center as a Clinical Assistant. Cheryl has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Lesley College.

Cliff Brown

Cliff has worked at Home Base since the beginning of 2019. Outside of Home Base, he is currently a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard where he serves as the Intelligence Section Noncommissioned Officer In Charge for the countries oldest Infantry battalion. He deployed to Afghanistan from 2011-2012 and the Sinai Peninsula from 2017-2018. He has an Associates degree from Cochise College in Intelligence Operations and a Bachelors degree in Sociology from Framingham State University. Prior to Home Base, he worked as a contractor doing Counterintelligence and volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ma/Metrowest.

Cory Stasko

Job Titles:
  • Associate Director of Business Analytics and Systems Engineering
Cory is the Associate Director of Business Analytics and Systems Engineering at Home Base, overseeing the technical work required to support databases, custom software, system integration, statistical analyses, and reporting. He graduated from Northeastern University in 2013 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering concentrated in healthcare delivery systems, and a minor in health economics. He then worked for two years at the Healthcare Systems Engineering Institute at Northeastern, managing healthcare quality improvement and analytics projects. Cory then went to MIT for his Master's in Technology and Policy, where he studied the intersection of systems engineering and healthcare policy. His thesis investigated the socio-technical systems by which the VA manages its logistics policies. Most recently, Cory worked as a Senior Researcher at the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission. Cory is most interested in the design, integration, and evolution of statistical and modeling analyses within healthcare delivery systems. He also loves to learn about new analytic and visualization tools.

Dan Arkins

Dan Arkins joined the Home Base Development Team in September 2019. Prior to joining Home Base, he held various senior account management and business development roles in the large, commercial employee benefits insurance industry. Dan retired from the military in August of 2016 with 33 years of enlisted and commissioned service. He commanded at the company, battalion and strategic intelligence detachment level. He has held numerous staff positions during his career, including battalion and brigade operations (S3) officer positions. He has served as an intelligence officer at the battalion, brigade and Joint Force-HQ level. His last assignment was as the Chief of Staff, for an 8000 soldier Training Command in the US Army Reserve. Dan deployed to Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan in 2011. His awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star Device, the Afghan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal and the NATO medal. Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts, History from Boston College, a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Norwich University and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. A passionate Veterans advocate, Dan has co-chaired the Boston College Veterans Alumni Network, he helped co-found the MetLife Military Veterans Employee Resource Group, is an American Corporate Partner mentor and recently joined the MGH Veterans group.

Daria Mamon

Dr. Mamon is the Director of Family Programs and a licensed clinical psychologist at Home Base providing care in the outpatient clinic working with military families. Dr. Mamon has extensive training and experience in the provision of evidence-based assessment and treatment in the military population, including individual, group, and couples therapy. Dr. Mamon received her BA in behavioral science from Ruppin Academic Center, Israel. After her undergraduate training, she moved to the US and completed her graduate training at William James College. Her graduate clinical training included working in public settings with underserved populations, particularly with individuals with severe mental illness in inpatient units. Dr. Mamon completed an APA pre-doctoral internship at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan, Colorado focusing on assessment and treatment of severe mental illness. She completed an APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University at the Providence VA Medical Center, specialized in Returning Veterans readjustment issues. She then completed a second APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital and specialized in Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) treatment. Dr. Mamon's clinical and research interests focus on trauma outcomes, specifically, the relationship between PTSD, Posttraumatic Growth and other trauma outcomes. She has additional research interests in understanding barriers for utilizing mental health services and increasing treatment engagement.

Darshan Mehta

Darshan Mehta received his BA in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and an MD from University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Illinois-Chicago Hospital. He completed a clinical research fellowship in complementary and integrative medicine at the Harvard Medical School Osher Research Center, during which he received a MPH degree from HSPH. He is presently the Medical Director of the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH, and the Education Director for the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Brigham & Women's Hospital. He presently directs medical student and resident rotational experiences in integrative medicine, and sees patients in a consultative role for use of complementary and integrative medical therapies, as well as mind body interventions for stress management and stress reduction. Through support from the leadership in the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry, Darshan has co-developed and delivered stress management and resiliency training for healthcare providers and trainees. Beginning April 1, Darshan began to serve as Interim Director for the newly created Office for Well-Being with the Center for Faculty Development at MGH; this office functions to support faculty and trainees across the career span to increase resilience and create a positive work culture. At Harvard Medical School, he leads a well-being curriculum required for all 1 st-year HMS students. In addition, he was recently appointed as the MGH Site Director for the Practice of Medicine curriculum; this longitudinal year long course focuses on the fundamentals of doctoring-from interviewing and communication skills to physical exam and clinical diagnosis. At Home Base, Darshan conducts medical evaluations for patients entering the ICP program. In addition, he has helped lead educational sessions on stress reduction for veterans in the community, and has participated in some of the research activities alongside colleagues.

Derek Goodwin

Derek was born in Pasadena, CA. He graduated Don Bosco Technical Institute and enlisted in the Marines in 2007. Derek served 13 years in the Marines and held three different occupational specialties as an Aviation Logistics Information System specialist in Beaufort, SC, as an MV-22 Osprey Crew Chief in San Diego, CA and as a Recruiter in the 1 st MCD in Bloomfield, NJ. He deployed with VMM-163 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and received an honorable discharge. Derek enjoys kayaking in the Boston harbor and flying privately outside of work.

Diane Nealon

  • Director of the Families of the Fallen
Ms. Nealon is the Director of the Families of the Fallen at Home Base. She is a clinical social worker with extensive community organizing experience assisting survivors of trauma and grief. During her twenty-year professional career, Ms. Nealon has been privileged to organize community services and critical mental health support for survivors of clergy abuse, for families of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and for post-9/11 bereaved military families. Ms. Nealon has served as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund and the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund, where she helped develop Massachusetts' nationally recognized Memorial Day Flag Garden on Boston Common. Ms. Nealon holds an undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and a graduate degree in clinical social work from Boston College. She began her clinical career working with children and families in a specialized day treatment educational program and also enjoyed some time abroad teaching English as a second language in Mexico.

Donna Gourdeau

Donna Gourdeau is a Patient Services Coordinator II with Home Base. Her professional background includes business development and operations for large corporate as well as entrepreneurial organizations. Her most recent roles focused on implementing systems for small growing businesses to improve operations and client experience. Donna graduated from Dartmouth College with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and continues to be interested in brain health and wellness initiatives. In her free time, Donna enjoys spending time with her family and friends exploring the beautiful coastline and mountains of New England. She is honored to be a member of the Home Base team working with veterans and their families.

Dr. April Hirschberg

  • Medical Director, Mind Body Health Program
Dr. April Hirschberg is board certified in both adult psychiatry and lifestyle medicine and is the Medical Director of the Mind Body Health Program at Home Base. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at the MGH/ McLean Combined Psychiatry Program in 2006 and has since remained on staff in the MGH Department of Psychiatry first in the Center for Women's Mental Health and later in the MGH Cancer Center. She is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. She has completed Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) Certification and Resilient Youth training with the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH. She has been offering Mind Body/SMART group programs for cancer survivors at MGH since 2017 and more recently for individuals at high risk for cancer and for her colleagues at Massachusetts General Brigham. Since March 2023 she has been offering resiliency groups for veterans, service members and their families at Home Base. In the Fall of 2023, she completed Resilient Youth training with the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine and Child Resiliency Program at MGH. In January 2024 she joined the Mind Body Health (MBH) Program as medical director, along with clinical and research director psychologist, Dr. Rachel Millstein. This MBH program includes the Resilient Warrior, Resilient Family and Resilient Youth which are virtual, non-clinical, educational programs based on the Benson-Henry Institute's SMART programs as well as the Warrior Health and Fitness programs which are live, wellness and fitness programs in New England, Florida and coming soon to Arizona. Dr. Hirschberg also offers Lifestyle Psychiatry consultation to the MGH Cancer Center Early Detection and Diagnostics Clinic. She is also certified as a Health and Well-being Coach and offers individual physician coaching at Massachusetts General Brigham. She and her husband have two teenagers and a small rescue dog who all love being outside in nature.

Dr. Ron Hirschberg

Dr. Ron Hirschberg is a rehabilitation physician specializing in neurological and polytrauma functional recovery, and medical director of the Brain Health Program at the Home Base in Boston, MA. He is assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at Harvard Medical School, and Director of the PM&R Consultation Service at the Massachusetts General Hospital, after completing training at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in 2006. During spring 2020, Dr. Hirschberg was chief medical officer of the COVID field hospital Boston Hope under the command of Brigadier General Jack Hammond that served more than 700 patients in the greater Boston area. He subsequently joined the mission-centric team at Home Base Program for Veteran and Family Care, serving active duty service members, veterans and military families who are affected by the invisible wounds of war: PTSD, TBI, depression, and substance use disorder, as senior director of Wellness overseeing Resilience, Fitness, Nutrition, and Expressive Arts Programming. In summer 2023, Dr. Hirschberg joined the Brain Health Program as medical director, along with clinical director psychologist Dr. Lauren Brenner. Specifically, this team serves the special operator community with more than 75% active-duty service members who visit the Comprehensive Brain Health and Trauma program (ComBHaT) for evaluation of functional, cognitive, and mental health, with medical concentration on TBI, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, other health issues and wellbeing. The ComBHaT team has seen and served more than 500 special operators since 2019 with expansion of programming currently underway.

Drew Teer

Dr. Teer completed his PhD in clinical psychology from Emory University, where he also finished his internship at Emory University's School of Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital as well as his postdoctoral fellowship with the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program - one of the other Warrior Care Network sites. Drew is passionate about providing science-based treatments for PTSD and other internalizing disorders. His research interests include identifying factors that may influence responses to PTSD treatment, and enhancing treatments for underserved and complex trauma populations. A native of Arizona, Drew has travelled to 42 different states, many during his time competing as a springboard diver. When he had free time (before welcoming two children two years apart) he enjoyed puzzles, good food, and adding to his seemingly-boundless knowledge of all things trivial and inane. He and his partner finally made the move back to New England with their two children and fluffy Aussie mix when work opportunities arose to bring them closer to her family, but he still plans to wear shorts longer than recommended.

Edward Bauer

Edward Bauer joins the Home Base team as a clinical social work intern, providing support in clinical case management, group DBT & exposure therapy, and working with veterans' families. Edward currently attends Simmons University, where he will be graduating with his Masters Degree in Social Work in Spring of 2023. In his first-year graduate internship, Edward provided therapeutic mentorship and counseling to adults and students at Fathers' Uplift, a community-focused mental health organization dedicated to providing practical and emotional support to men and women dealing with the challenges of parenting and reconnecting with their families. Prior to his clinical training, Edward worked as an artist and educator, creating theater that drew attention to issues of social injustice, and coaching high school students in the use of mindfulness-based therapeutic techniques. Edward has a passion for listening to the stories of his clients, and for examining and reinforcing positive models of empathetic masculinity in the world. He hopes to bring his passion for art and storytelling to his work with Home Base, and he greatly looks forward both to supporting his clients and their families.

Emily Collins

Emily Collins, MS RD LDN, received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nutritional Science (Dietetics) at Boston University, and completed her clinical training at Boston Medical Center. Throughout her career, she has also worked as an outpatient oncology dietitian at Boston Medical Center. She currently supports our patients through the Intensive Clinical Program and ComBHat/Traumatic Brain Injury, Brain and Health Services Center. Her approach to care is centered around the idea that "all foods fit." Her primary goal for treatment is to help patients develop their own unique and healthy relationship with food while active duty or at the conclusion of their service. Outside of Home Base, Emily holds a personal training certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and brings her passion for fitness to Home Base's Warrior Health and Fitness program.

Emily Lubin

Emily graduated Summa Cum Laude from Colgate University in 2021 with a B.A. in Psychological and Brain Sciences and a minor in Sociology. As an undergraduate, she worked as a research assistant in labs studying social cognition and child development and also as a psycho-social intern providing support for adolescents with executive functioning challenges and other clinical diagnosis. Her senior thesis, which was accepted with High Honors, focused on the relationship between social support and mental well-being during the transition to college in the context of the pandemic. Outside of the classroom, Emily served as a first year orientation leader and year-long mentor and volunteered with a support organization for survivors of sexual assault on her campus. These experiences have deepened Emily's interest in trauma, psychopathology and the relationship between social support and clinical outcomes. After her time at Home Base, Emily plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Erin Dwyer

Erin Dwyer is the Project Coordinator for Network Development, where she helps contribute to the growth and development of Home Base through the support of new and expanded programs. Erin graduated from Tufts University in 2020 where she studied Community Health and Spanish. She then completed her Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Health Services Management and Policy, also at Tufts, in 2021. She is interested in eliminating health care disparities for vulnerable populations by improving access to and quality of care. Erin has several family members who have served and are serving in the military and is proud to be a part of the Home Base team and support its mission. She is excited to help more veterans and their families access needed mental health care services.
