Adam's career has specialised in the negotiation of lease terms and rents for the purposes of rent reviews, lease renewals and lease regearing. Alice joined DWD in January 2018 after completing her degree from the University of Reading in Economics (BSc Hons) and a Masters from CASS Business School in Real Estate. She qualified as a chartered surveyor in November 2020, is an RICS Registered Valuer and an affiliate member of the Rating Surveyors' Association. Alice works on a wide range of commercial property matters, including lease advisory, valuation, business rates and compulsory purchase claims. Alice has experience working with both landlords and tenants in commercial, residential and mixed-use properties.

Andrew Deller

Andrew joined DWD in October 2017. He is a chartered town planner with 13 years of experience as a planning practitioner in the private sector, including five years in New Zealand. His experience spans all sectors of planning and has advised housebuilders, developers, landowners, local authorities, education institutions, private companies and higher net worth individuals. Andrew specialises in the co-ordination of multi-disciplinary project teams, and the preparation and negotiation of all types of planning applications with particular experience of securing permissions for residential and mixed-use developments. He is happy to lead or integrate with project teams. Andrew's approach is to combine sound land use planning evidence with good design/place-making, sustainability, and commercial/deliverability considerations as a means of informing/challenging policy and achieving value for his clients. Qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1985, Andrew was a founding Partner of Howes & Holden, a niche Retail Practice he ran for 25 years before merging with DWD in 2013. His work takes him throughout England & Wales, dealing with all formats of retail premises but with particular interest in the food supermarket sector, large space occupiers and Department Stores. In addition to providing advice on strategy for rent reviews, renewals, re-gears and restructuring, Andrew is also on the Panel of Arbitrators and Independent Experts appointed by the RICS for dispute resolution. In 2000 Andrew qualified as an Arbitrator on the RICS Dispute Resolution Panel and followed this by qualifying in 2002 as an Independent Expert on the same Panel of dispute resolvers.

Andrew Pilbrow

Andrew has 25 years post qualification experience in valuation and lease advisory matters, with significant experience acting as an expert witness in property disputes having given evidence in the High Court, County Court, Tribunals and Arbitrations. His clients include leading legal practices, public and private companies, SME's and private individuals. He began his career with the Valuation Office Agency in 1993 where he undertook statutory valuation work and has, subsequently, worked in private practice since 1995 holding Director and Equity Partner positions in Thames Valley and, latterly, Central London private practices. Properties advised upon cover commercial offices, warehousing and development sites where he regularly prepares expert evidence for the Courts. In a lease advisory capacity, Andrew specialises in office and warehouse property in London & the South East where he has practiced for his entire career. He has undertaken a significant of work in this discipline, advising clients in Arbitrations and Independent Expert Determinations, also appearing to give evidence at the County Court in contested 1954 Act lease renewals. Charlie Merry

Charlie is a chartered town planning consultant with over five years experience in the private sector working for multidisciplinary property consultancies within London. His background in providing consultancy advice for commercial and residential clients has led Charlie to have a keen eye for identifying potential and advising on the appropriate planning strategy for complex sites. Charlie has developed a personable approach to managing the preparation of planning applications and the negotiation process. He has worked for a range of clients across different sectors and strives to ensure the best outcome with each project. Chris is a Senior Associate in the Business Rates team at DWD and has over 25 year's experience in the Commercial Property Sector working primarily in London, the Southeast and East Anglia. Chris has previously worked at CBRE, JLL and Barker Storey Matthews before joining DWD. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1998 and has since been a General Practice Surveyor, for the past circa 10 years specializing in Business Rates and Landlord and Tenant work. In terms of business rates, he has taken cases to Valuation Tribunal as an Expert Witness, in particular achieving notable success at VT at Somerset House, The Strand, London which resulted in the tone at this iconic property being reduced. He has completed appeals in all sector types including retail, office and industrial and also Specialist assessments for Pubs, Hotels and Private Members Clubs. During 2020 he managed the examination of the South Humber Bank Energy Centre DCO and the submission of the Keadby 3 Carbon Capture Power Station DCO. In the transport sector, he led the optioneering for alternative terminal designs on the Heathrow West DCO project and has worked on the Airports National Policy Statement preparations. Harriet Swale

Harriet is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and has over 6 years' experience, gained in both the public and private sector. She has a range of experience working largely on major planning applications for residential, industrial and community developments. Jeff's expertise extends to all categories of rating valuation work including appeals, deletions and completion notices and through the bulk classes to specialist casework ranging from racing stables to exclusive use venues. Jonathan Harris

Jonathan recently joined the team at DWD and has over 18 years planning experience. For the last 10 years, he has been seconded to major infrastructure projects, working on their preparation, submission, examination and delivery. Jonathan started his career as a planning officer in local government before moving into private practice in 2008 where he worked on a range of projects, including Crossrail and a number of residential and industrial schemes as well as drafting of Local Plan policy on behalf of a local borough council. In 2011 Jonathan was seconded to Thames Tideway Tunnel and spent the next 10 years on major infrastructure programmes in the waste water, aviation and highway sectors. He has been involved in all stages of the DCO process and specialises in formulating effective planning strategies, managing stakeholder relationships and articulating robust needs cases in response to challenging policy requirements. Jonathan excels in building collaborative working relationships both in-house and across the spectrum of stakeholders and has an intimate understanding of the consenting regimes in both the Town and Country Planning Act (1990) and the Planning Act (2008). Nick became a Chartered Town Planner in 2012 and has over ten years of experience in the private sector. Peter has in excess of 32 years' professional experience in both the public and private property sectors and is a RICS Registered Valuer. He was previously a Partner and Head of Valuation, Compensation & Litigation at Rapleys LLP following 11 years with the Valuation Office Agency before joining DWD in January 2018. In addition to his private sector work, he is a fee paid Valuer Chairman of the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). Peter has a particular specialism in providing Expert valuation advice in respect of contentious matters concerning the application of statutory principles and negotiating settlements. He also provides professional valuation, site assembly and strategic advice to corporate and individual clients throughout the UK on development opportunities, including the delivery of high profile complex residential/mixed use development and regeneration schemes. Peter has extensive experience in providing detailed compulsory purchase and compensation advice dealing with all aspects of the process from scheme inception, including the negotiation of Development/Indemnity Agreements, through to the settlement of compensation claims or presentation of evidence to the Lands Chamber or arbitration proceedings. As part of this Peter also presents expert evidence to CPO Public Inquiries, Parliamentary Select Committees and DCO examinations. He also provides expert evidence to the County Court and High Court and as part of mediation and adjudication proceedings in respect of professional negligence and disputes concerning Option Agreements, Overage provisions, utility easements/wayleaves, s18 (1) LTA diminution/covenant breaches, and Rights of Light profit assessments. In addition, Peter advises in respect of s84 LPA covenant modification/discharge applications to the Lands Chamber. Peter also provides viability advice as well as presenting expert valuation and viability evidence in support of planning appeals and Inquiries.
