Maria Magdalene Tower

The former garrison church of Buda was destroyed during the 2 nd World War, only the tower of the church remained. The tower operates as a lookout and plays every half-hour carillon.

Matthias Church

The church is of the same age as the Royal Palace. The church was originally constructed in the 13th, and reconstructed several times during the following centuries. The Turks occupied Buda in 1541 and turned the Matthias church into a mosque. The frescoes of the church were whitened. The today's form of the church was made in the 19 th century, when it was rebuilt in neo-gothic style. Frescoes of Bible scenes and the main events of Hungarian history decorate the walls of the church. The Matthias church has an excellent acoustic, that is why a lot of concerts are held in the church. www.matyas-templom.hu
