CDRI - Key Persons
Alvin joined the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation of CDRI in April 2022. He has led multiple research projects in and for large organisations, both as an educational researcher and a monitoring and evaluation consultant. His research focuses on education policy and social inclusion. He is currently based in the United Kingdom and has worked in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, East Africa and Western Europe. Alvin holds a PhD in Education and Development from the University of Cambridge.

Len holds a Master's Degree of Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy specialization in policy analysis at the Australian National University. He obtained scholarship and completed two BA programs from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Khmer literature and a private university in English literature. He also had some extensive leadership and research learning experience from an exchanged program to the US. Len is a passionate and dedicated individual, spending his entire career after graduation to research some key development thematic areas on local politics and democratic development. He has a long vision dedicated to conducting research, intending to provide evidence-based analysis to improve and empower citizen participation in the decision-making process and policy implementation. Len believes that research has proven a significant increase in its influence on policy implementation and enhanced citizen democratic participation. Therefore, he has contributed his political views to some international publications: The Diplomat, International Policy Digest, E-international Relations, and Asian Vision Institute, and other local publication outlets. He published a co-authored working paper and a forthcoming lead-authored working paper for CDRI, some consultative papers for the World Bank, DFAT/UNICEF, Plan International, UNDP, and some other local organizations.

Sathya is currently a research fellow at the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation. He previously worked as a senior research specialist at Save the Children International in Cambodia and the dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science at the Cambodia University of Technology and Science. He holds a PhD in Education from the Education University of Hong Kong and a Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University on a Fulbright scholarship. His areas of research interest include higher education and employability, student motivation and engagement, and student academic achievement.

Ms. Chen is an associate research assistance. She has obtained her bachelor degree in International Relations from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, and is also currently pursuing a second bachelor degree in Economics at the Pannasastra University of Cambodia. Her research interest is around the human capital, and labor market.

Dr ANG Raksmey holds a Doctoral Degree in Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, where he majored in Global Engineering for Development, Environment, and Society. Additionally, He has a master's degree in engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, specializing in Water Engineering and Management. His research focuses on climate change and environment-related issues, particularly assessing the potential impacts of climate and land-use changes on water resources, streamflow, sediment load, and water balance estimations, as well as drought assessment. Additionally, he has also worked on satellite-based meteorological datasets evaluation which would be useful alternative climate data for water resources management. From the outputs of his research works, several publications have been published and presented in leading international journals and conferences. He has extensive experience and skills in hydrological modeling and programming using various software such as ArcSWAT, SWAT-CUP, QGIS and ArcGIS, and can efficiently handle the processing, analysis, and scientific interpretation of big datasets. Before joining the CDRI, he worked as a consultant for a private engineering company on a project to develop a master plan for the urban drainage system.

Dr Chea Phal is currently the Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation. He has previously worked as a consultant for the World Bank, a research fellow at Kobe University, and an adjunct researcher at the Research Institute for Economics and Business Administration (RIEB), Japan. He holds a Master's and PhD in economics of education from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University, Japan. He has been actively involved in joint projects between UNESCO Bangkok and Kobe University, conducting various educational research projects in Cambodia. His research interests encompass economics of education, education finance, higher education, learning assessment, and field experiments. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific papers, including those indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.

Ms. BUN Phoury recently graduated with a Master of Education (by Research) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She also holds dual honors degrees, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed in TEFL) from the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) and Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from CamEd Business School. Her research interests include aspects of academia, TVET, the roles of arts in science, enterpreneurship, philosophy in higher education, social psychology of the classroom, equality, and equity, monitoring, and evaluation in learning, and technology, creativity, and critical thinking in education.
