Alice "Ali" Jaglowski

Jaglowski started her career in public health in Florida at the local and state level at the Duval County Health Department and the Florida Department of Health, respectively. Locally, she focused on community engagement and health behavior change program development, implementation, and evaluation. As a state administrator of the Florida Department of Health's Obesity Prevention Program, she worked to develop state and local level partnerships around obesity prevention and implemented a statewide plan for addressing obesity prevention. Currently, she supports the National Diabetes Prevention Program under the CDC grant 1705 at NACDD. The 1705 grant focus is to scale and sustain National DPP through increasing availability, marketing, referrals, and reimbursement of the National DPP lifestyle change program.

Alisha Zambrano

Alisha Zambrano is a public health consultant. She has more than 20 years of experience in public health with 10 of those years in various roles at New Mexico's Public Health Institute. There, she participated in and managed local, statewide, and national programs. She has served in the following capacities: Bilingual, Chronic Disease Health Educator; Manager of the Migrant Health Network in southwest Virginia; volunteer in the US Peace Corps - El Salvador; trainer for the Stanford chronic disease self-management programs, and Director of Training and Technical Assistance. Alisha developed and managed New Mexico's Academic Detailing program: UPDATE NM (Understanding Provider Demands and Advancing Timely Evidence), offering up-to-date, evidence-based information, custom tools, and free CME to licensed healthcare providers statewide. She was principal investigator of a HRSA RCORP (Rural Community Opioid Response Program) Implementation grant in southern rural New Mexico. Alisha holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Arizona State University and a Master of Public Health from the University of North Texas - Health Science Center. Alisha and her husband Michael reside in Silver City, New Mexico. In any spare time, they enjoy working on house projects, going on hikes in the Gila National Forest, and spending time with family.

Amanda K. Martínez

Amanda K. Martínez has 20 years of public health and healthcare experience, with a focus on program design, administration, and evaluation. Amanda has worked as a public health consultant with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) since 2014 on school health, public health leadership and practice, and most recently, cardiovascular health projects. In her current role, she supports the Multi-state EHR-based Network for Disease Surveillance project. Prior to NACDD, Amanda worked at the National School Boards Association for seven years, where she led a project to support leadership and governance for coordinated school health, among other grant projects. Much of her early career experience was at the community level, including work as a prevention team leader at a multicultural center serving youth and families in Washington, DC. In addition, Amanda is a registered nurse with clinical experience in obstetrics and medical-surgical nursing. Amanda holds a BS in Biology, an MPH, Maternal and Child Health, from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an MSN, Clinical Nurse Leader, from the University of Virginia. She resides in Charlottesville, Va., with her husband and three children.

Anjali Deshpande

Anjali Deshpande, PhD, MPH, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Iowa College of Public Health in Iowa City, Iowa. Her areas of research interest include the development and evaluation of research networks (specifically in maternal and child health and rural cancer prevention and control) and public health workforce development. Dr. Deshpande teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in epidemiology and public health. In addition to training the future public health workforce, she is passionate about teaching current public health professionals, and has been part of NACDD's Evidence-Based Public Health (EBPH) training team since 2009. Dr. Deshpande has also developed a number of online training courses for using and communicating public health data in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Iowa Institute for Public Health Research and Policy at the University of Iowa. These include Tackling Data, Visualize This, and Disaggregate It!-A Health Equity Data Training. Dr. Deshpande was the consultant epidemiologist for the Division of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS) from 2000 to 2003 and an epidemiology specialist in the Communicable Disease Division at the Oklahoma State Department of Health from 1994 to 1996. She is active in several professional associations and is currently a board member of the Iowa Public Health Association (IPHA), serves on the IDPH BRFSS Advisory Committee, and is a member of the statewide Iowa Public Health Workforce Development Coalition.

Ann Marie Shields

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, community activism, social dancing, and crafting.

April Reese

April Reese is a Public Health Consultant with the Diabetes Technical Assistance and Support Team. She focuses on developing and implementing training opportunities with an emphasis on keeping adult learners engaged during virtual learning. She also facilitates state-to-state networking and mentoring through her support of the Professional Development and Mentoring Workgroups of the Diabetes Council. April came to NACDD in 2018, following a career in North Carolina state government that spanned more than three decades, and included leadership positions in Administration and Public Health. She served as the Lead for diabetes prevention and management, and later she also led heart disease and stroke prevention activities. April is a former chair of NACDD's Diabetes Council and was elected to serve in 2010. April is an experienced leader who has expertise in evaluation, policy, and program planning. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Management Academy for Public Health and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Leadership Program. Since joining NACDD, she has completed a certificate in Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and is applying these skills to her current scope of work. April has a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She is married and has two sons and three dogs.

Arielle Buyum

Arielle Buyum has more than 25 years of diverse healthcare experience, spanning both practical delivery of care and public health development. In her consulting career, Arielle has been engaged by governments, NGOs, private businesses, research and educational institutes, and nonprofit agencies in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, the Pacific Island region, and the mainland United States. Arielle works effectively across multicultural settings. Her areas of expertise include primary prevention, chronic disease, reproductive health, maternal/child health, program planning and management, capacity building at local and regional levels, training and technical support, evaluation, and quality improvement. Arielle serves as the Executive Director of the Pacific Islands Primary Care Association, representing the Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in the three Pacific Island territories and the three Freely Associated States. Prior to this appointment, she spent more than 10 years with Pacific Island FQHCs working with both the PCA and the Community Health Centers directly. Arielle earned a master's degree in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She also holds a BS in Nursing and served as a practitioner in the field for more than 15 years. In her free time, Arielle finds joy exploring culture through travel.

Barb Park

Barbara Park has more than 30 years of experience in public health, working in oral health, chronic disease prevention, and health promotion at the local, state, and national level. At the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, Barbara consults with State Health Departments on diabetes prevention and control strategies, as well as evidence-based interventions for reducing the risks of chronic disease. She also is the project lead for linking oral health and chronic disease through innovative medical-dental integration strategies. Prior to joining NACDD in 2016, Barbara served for 22 years in various leadership capacities for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (NCCDPHP) with the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. During her tenure at CDC, Barbara worked on a variety of assignments within NCCDPHP, and also served as the Chief of the Program Implementation Branch in the Division of Diabetes Translation, where she participated in the development of several collaborative funding opportunity announcements.

Catherine McCann

Catherine McCann has more than 15 years of experience in the field of chronic disease prevention and policy at the state and national levels. She specializes in strategic planning, program development, evaluation, leadership and policy planning, partnership building and maintenance, and assisting organizations with grant-writing. Catherine provides consulting services for the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, where she has served in numerous roles: supporting State Health Department Chronic Disease Units' efforts to scale and sustain the National Diabetes Prevention Program, developing NACDD'S partnerships with Department of Defense stakeholders to enhance military service members' readiness and resiliency, and working with states and health intelligence partnerships to increase colorectal cancer screening. She began her career in public health at the Florida Department of Health where she planned, implemented, and evaluated population-based interventions for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and grant development and management. Catherine received her doctorate in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology. Her researched focused on the social and economic predictors of pediatric metabolic syndrome. She has served as an adjunct faculty member for the Master's Public Health Program & Department of Geography at the Florida State University, where she taught graduate and undergraduate Medical Geography. Catherine lives with her husband in Orlando, Fla. and enjoys growing food in her urban garden beds, hiking, camping, yoga, and trying her hand at gourmet cooking with her husband assuming the precarious and adventurous role of taste tester and sous chef.

Charita James

Charita James is a Public Health Consultant with NACDD for the State Partnerships Improving Nutrition and Equity (SPINE) Program. She is a Registered Dietitian with more than 10 years of diverse experiences in the public health nutrition realm. She has a deep interest in community nutrition, food justice, and nutrition security. Charita has a successful track record for developing and implementing community programs that promote health equity, develop young food justice leaders, and build the capacity of organizations to carry out healthy food projects. Charita is also the founder and owner of My SoulFull Nutrition, a wellness company that provides support and nutrition education to individuals and groups who desire to have a more nourishing and balanced diet from a cultural lens. Another focus of her company is providing guidance on how to make healthier versions of popular comfort foods. Charita holds a MS in Nutritional Sciences from Rutgers University and a BS in Community Health Education from Hunter College. Charita enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines and restaurants, fitness, and doing anything that involves self-care (including watching the newest shows on Netflix). Charles Williams

Charles joined NACDD as a Senior Accountant in 2014 before being promoted in 2019 to Accounting Supervisor, Grants and Contracts, and then to Associate Director of Finance in 2023. He holds a variety of responsibilities at the Association, including: maintaining the annual budgets for multiple programs, preparing the accounting work for NACDD's investment portfolio, overseeing consultants' monthly invoices and travel reimbursements; and invoicing and accounting for annual membership dues. He also plays a key role in the preparation of monthly financial statements. When he joined NACDD's Headquarters staff, Charles brought more than a decade of experience in the accounting field, with responsibilities spanning audit, tax, financial reporting, and business management. He also has performed services in his capacity as a certified public accountant for several different clients. Charles is a certified public accountant, holds a Master's in Business from the Keller Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The Ohio State University. His professional affiliations include: the National Association of Black Accountants, the National Black MBA Association, and the Georgia Society of CPAs. Charles was married for 17 years before his lovely wife departed in 2009. Since that time, he has raised a young daughter (15), a young man (21), and a Labrador retriever (Max). In his spare time, Charles enjoys being with family, a good movie, supporting the OSU football team, going to the beach, enjoying a good book, and a cup of coffee.

Crystal E. Doxie

Crystal E. Doxie, MBA, is a Sr. Program Grant Manager at the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. Crystal brings to NACDD areas of expertise working in Grants and Contracts with pre-and-post award administration and management. She has an MBA in Healthcare Administration with a focus on Gerontology. Prior to her career at NACDD, Crystal was the Grants Manager at Georgia Institute of Technology for the School of Computer Science for three years. A native of Oklahoma, Crystal worked for 20 years at the University of Oklahoma as Grants Manager and Financial Specialist. She has managed an extensive portfolio of research grants for faculty members considered experts in their fields of autoimmune disease. She served on the Institutional Review Board providing ethical and regulatory oversight of grants involving human subjects. Crystal's role and responsibilities at NACDD will include various areas of management in pre-and-post award, such as providing grant management support and coordination with CEO, Director of Programs and Director of Operations on the compliance of operational grant policies and procedures as well planning and preparation for the submission of grant application or proposals, identify new grants that align with the Association mission and strategic plan, assist with the preparation of the indirect rate audit proposal with the cognizant agency, and with the Single Audit (formerly known as the A133) and final closeout activities of grants and financial reporting. In addition to her regular work, she also provides oversight for the electronic pre-and-post award documentation retention system. Crystal is an active member of Grants Professionals Association (GPA), where she serves on the Georgia Chapter of GPA and American Society of Administrative Professionals (ASAP). She regularly attends annual conferences and is involved in a podcast discussing areas of her expertise working in Grants and Contracts.
