About the Hanover Tavern The Tavern is owned and operated by The Hanover Tavern Foundation, a non-profit 501c3 organization. In 1990, the Foundation bought the Tavern and 3.5 acres from the Barksdale Theatre owners and in a multi-year timeframe, raised the needed money to stabilize and restore the aging building... Each year, we produce well over 40 events and programs including but not limited to tours, concerts, presentations, teas, pairings, themed dinners, paranormal investigations, and antique show. The nationally recognized Virginia Repertory Theatre continues to offer riveting live performances. And, as always, Hanover Tavern Restaurant & Pub offers daily dining and accommodations for private events and receptions.
