A Senior Counsel in the Dispute Resolution team, Allan Doughty has a strong practice which covers, but is not limited to, the following:

Clients who Allan regularly acts for include the Bermuda Hospitals Board, the Human Rights Commission, numerous individuals who have laid complaints pursuant to the Human Rights Act, numerous police officers, the Commissioner of Police and numerous professionals facing disciplinary charges.
Professional Experience
On returning to Bermuda from having qualified in Canada, Allan practiced with Trott & Duncan Limited for 10 years during which time he became recognized as a leading attorney in the areas of disciplinary law, medical law and human rights law. During this time, Allan appeared before various tribunals and all levels of Court in Bermuda.
Additionally, from 2014 to 2020, Allan practiced with BeesMont Law Limited and was named as Head of Litigation for that firm in 2018. While with BeesMont, Allan argued some of Bermuda's leading cases in the areas of human rights and antidiscrimination law, the right to freedom of expression as guaranteed by the Constitution and medical law, with one of his cases on the issue of clinical negligence and causation being heard by the Privy Council.
Brian is Counsel in the firm's corporate practice group. His practice encompasses many areas of general corporate and commercial law, with specialist expertise in securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, corporate redomiciliations and cross-border financings (specialism in aviation and ship finance). He also advises on partnership and regulatory law, including on compliance with Bermuda's economic substance legislation and regulations.

Prior to joining MJM in June 2012, Brian was an associate at another leading offshore law firm, working in their Bermuda and Singapore offices. Brian has acted as consultant to the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the island's integrated regulator of the financial services sector, where he advised on proposals to regulate the corporate service provider industry and to enhance the Authority's enforcement powers across the insurance, investment business, trusts and banking sectors.

De Waal joined MJM Limited in 2019. De Waal is an Associate in the Corporate and Finance Department and his practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, banking and finance and mergers and acquisitions and he specializes in drafting all manner of corporate and commercial agreements.
Denis de Frias is a director in the firm's property, trusts and estates practice group and is responsible for the firm's property practice. Mr. de Frias has over 15 years of experience in a broad range of property transactions including condominium development, complex financing structures, residential and commercial real property sales and purchases.

Mr. de Frias joined the firm as a pupil in 1997 and rose steadily through the ranks to become director in 2006.
Donna has extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of property transactions, trust management and various private client related matter such as administration of estates.

Donna has worked in the legal and trust industry for over 26 years both in Bermuda and abroad. She has extensive experience in property transactions, trust administration, probate administration and compliance matters. Her trust administration proficiencies extend to overseeing local and foreign trust structures holding a variety of assets including operating companies, charitable entities, artwork, airplanes, yachts and residential and commercial real estate properties. Prior to moving to Bermuda in 2010, Donna was a licensed title agent in Florida and Louisiana and is proficient in all aspects of real estate and yacht transactions and can manage a purchase from contract through closing. She has a degree in paralegal studies and is a designated Fellow in the Institute of Paralegals. Donna is also a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) as well as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).

Gabriella joined the MJM Group in 2018 in Malta as a Corporate Administrator. Her drive for client satisfaction coupled with substantial academic achievements saw her being promoted to Assistant Corporate Manager in 2019. In 2020, Gabriella moved into the role of Client Services Manager. Prior to joining the MJM Group, Gabriella worked in a Company Secretarial position in the United Kingdom.

Jennifer A Haworth, JP is a Director in the Dispute Resolution team and is also a member of the Employment & Immigration team at MJM Limited. She has an extensive level of experience in civil and commercial matters including security enforcement, banking, receiverships, insolvency, property related disputes, employment/immigration, judicial review and public law. Her practice includes acting for both local and international clients with advisory work as well as appearing in mediations, arbitrations, employment tribunals, the Human Rights Commission and all levels of the courts, including the Court of Appeal in Bermuda. She is a skilled negotiator and uses a practical approach to achieve the best results for her clients. Jennifer is also a seasoned public speaker and regularly presents to clients and various industry sectors on recent legal developments.

Jeremy Leese is a Director of the firm and Head of the Corporate Department at MJM. Mark Adams is a Counsel in our Corporate Department. Mark specialises in all areas of corporate, finance and banking law. He has particular expertise in structured, asset and project finance, restructurings, M&A, advisory and corporate finance.

Mike Goulborn's expertise includes trust and contentious probate disputes (he represented two of the plaintiffs in the Alhamrani litigation, which remains Jersey's longest-running civil trial), and he also has experience of a wide range of contractual and commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, compliance and connected non-contentious advice.

Mike qualified in the City of London, working with the forerunners of global U.S. firms Reed Smith and K&L Gates before moving to Jersey, where he gained invaluable experience with leading offshore firms Ogier and Carey Olsen. Mike also spent some time outside legal practice as a director of an independent Jersey-based trust and corporate service provider.
Nathalie joined MJM Limited as a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution Team.

Nathalie is a native French speaker with 6 years litigation experience in the legal industry assisting on matters such as antitrust cartels, class actions, general commercial litigation, bankruptcy, insolvency and complex and high value trust and probate litigation. She has advocacy experience before the Magistrates Courts in London and surrounding areas for proceeds of crime matters and before the Companies Court in London for company restoration matters. As a Diversity Champion, Nathalie has developed and delivered diversity and inclusion projects and presentations.

Nathan Samuels is a Senior Associate in the firm's property, trusts and estates practice group and has experience in a wide range of property and private client matters. Nathan routinely advises clients in the areas of probate and estate administration, wills and estate planning as well as buying and selling real property and property financing.

Nathan received the Mello Jones & Martin Legal Scholarship Award in 2001 and continued with the firm as a pupil in 2005 and then as an associate in 2006 with the firm's property, trusts and estates practice group. In 2012 Nathan left MJM to take on in-house counsel roles with local companies, Bermuda Commercial Bank Limited and then in 2016 with Colonial Group International Ltd. In 2019 Nathan return to MJM as a senior associate.
