MSU SCMA - Key Persons

Adam Tucek - COO

Job Titles:
  • Director of Operations
Hello everyone! My name is Adam Tucek, I am a senior and I will be serving as the Director of Operations this upcoming academic year. I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance, and a minor in entrepreneurship and integrated learning. After graduating from Michigan State University, I am hoping to attend either Purdue or University of Michigan to pursue a master's degree in supply chain management. As Director of Operations, I am in charge of organizing our annual fall and spring trips that SCMA will be taking. During these trips, we go and visit companies in large cities for professional connections and to educate ourselves more about their supply chain processes. We also do a lot of social bonding during events so we can all get to know each other better and form lifetime connections! My involvement with SCMA has introduced me to some incredibly hard-working and amazing people. Every event and gathering that SCMA hosts are sure to enhance your knowledge of the supply chain field. I also created some outstanding bonds with people that I am sure I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. As an international student, SCMA has provided me with a home in a larger community. Michigan State can be overwhelming sometimes, so it is important to find groups inside the community that you fit in. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions about the upcoming trips we will be taking! It is a great time for everyone involved and I highly recommend you attend if you are at all interested in supply chain. Also, reach out if you have any other questions about SCMA, or any questions in general. I will be graduating by the end of this year so I have had a lot of experience with the business school and Michigan State in general. Hope to see you on one of our trips!

Ashley Yearwood - President

Job Titles:
  • President
Hi, my name is Ashley Yearwood, and I am a senior in the Honors College studying Supply Chain Management with minors in Information Technology and Economics. As President for the 2022-2023 academic year, I could not be more excited to work with this amazing group of individuals. This summer, I will be interning with Accenture based out of the Detroit office as a part of their Consulting Development Program. I also hold a role with the Department of Supply Chain Management at Michigan State as a Marketing Intern managing their social media accounts and marketing activities. This role was directly related to my position on the Executive Board last year, Director of Public Relations, regarding communications with the public. Last summer, I had the pleasure to intern at Martinrea International, Inc. in Auburn Hills, MI as a Supply Chain Intern. I learned that the Supply Chain industry is full of opportunity and diversity, and I look forward to what is to come not only at Martinrea, but in the industry as a whole. Throughout the school year, my primary role will be to ensure the longevity of the organization through administrative activities within Broad and support of the Executive Board positions. I am honored to work alongside this fantastic group of individuals, and I will support them in any way possible. SCMA is a fantastic organization to grow professionally, academically, and personally; I would encourage anyone interested in supply chain management to join SCMA. Caden Opsommer

Job Titles:
  • Career Fair Director
Hello everyone! My name is Caden Opsommer and I am currently an SCMA Career Fair Director alongside Milena Jansen. I am a sophomore Supply Chain Management and Information Science major from Troy, Michigan and this is my first year on the SCMA Executive board. My involvement in SCMA began as a general member, then as an administrative Chair for the 2022 SCMA Career Fair, and now I have the honor of being a Career Fair Director. During the summer of 2022, I interned with ZF Friedrichshafen as a Global Commodity Purchasing intern where I am learning all about the materials management side of supply chain. Another big summer highlight was my study abroad trip to Europe. Enrolled in the "International Business Studies" led by Professor Richard Spreng, I got the great chance to visit London and Paris where I visited multiple companies such as Googe and EY, saw and learned about famous landmarks, and met lots of new people. Study abroad trips can seem scary up front, but I would recommend everyone to try to do at least one before they graduate, even if it is only a two-week program like mine. They can provide amazing experiences that are impossible to obtain by staying on campus and MSU is great at providing a wide variety of cost-affordable trips that anyone can participate in. I am hoping to be able to study abroad again in the future. During my time at State, I have been involved with the Professorial Assistantship (PA) Program working with Dr. Steven Melnyk to help develop solutions to cyber security in the supply chain and researching impacts of supplier relations between firms. This research has allowed me to dive deeper into the supply chain field by learning from the unique perspective of a researcher, not a student. However, my research endeavors do not stop in the business field, I have been involved in research of fostering animals in the animal science field. I enjoy conducting research in many different fields and am always looking to be involved in future projects. SCMA has provided me with countless opportunities as a young business professional, student, and leader. I am very thankful for being able to give back to this amazing organization, our members, and the supply chain management students at Michigan State University through my role as a career fair director. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, or just need someone to chat with, please feel free to reach out to me at any time. GO GREEN!"

Jacob Levack - CFO

Job Titles:
  • Chief Financial Officer
Hello all! I'm Jacob Levack and I'm a senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management. I'm serving for my second year on the E-Board as the Chief Financial Officer, which is an exciting role to have regarding the contributions and duties with the organization. Some of the things I do in my role include managing finances related to SCMA, organizing our yearly budgets, assisting other E-Board members with planning events, and providing developmental opportunities within our organization. In early 2020, I worked as a Purchasing Intern at Fastenal Company, a leading supplier in construction parts and fasteners. For the summer of 2021, I interned with Great Lakes Packing Co., a fresh cherry packer in Kewadin, MI, where I worked as a Logistics Assistant. There are not too many places better than Northern Michigan during the summer months. Most recently, I interned with Caterpillar Inc. for summer of 2022 at their Minneapolis Global Paving Products facility. We built pavers and asphalt/soil compactors that you've probably seen in road construction zones all over the place. I'm very thankful to have interned for all of those companies and if you're interested in any company, do not hesitate to come talk to me about my experience. From 2019 to 2022, I've been one of the most involved members in SCMA and I can say that most of the Supply Chain Management knowledge I have thus far has been a result of my involvement and participation with the organization. We've gone on some fantastic trips and heard from some great individuals and companies in the past. I know that is something that won't change. Our GMMs are always the highlight of the week for me because it's such a great opportunity to engage with other SCM students and professionals. The trips that we go on have been planned out so well in the past and our upcoming trips will be nothing short of the same. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone once the school year kicks off! Don't hesitate to come chat with me or any of the other E-Board members about anything SCM or not.
