Established in 1989, the San Dieguito River Park is a regional greenway that stretches 55 miles from the ocean in Del Mar to Volcan Mountain near Julian, providing striking examples of San Diego County's natural beauty along the corridor of the San Dieguito River... The San Dieguito River Park JPA was formed as a separate agency on June 12, 1989 by the County of San Diego and the cities of Del Mar, Escondido, Poway, San Diego, and Solana Beach. It was empowered to acquire, plan, design, improve, operate, and maintain the San Dieguito River Park.
