Dr. Blitstein has been Chief of Surgery at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center and Carolinas Healthcare System-University. He provides surgical services at both Carolinas Healthcare and Novant Health systems.

Dr. Heidi Weilbach

Dr. Heidi Weilbach is a member of the Eastern Association of the Surgery of Trauma,the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the preeminent laparoscopic surgery organization. Dr. Weilbach practices exclusively at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte where she provides the full range of general and acute surgical care to hospitalized and emergency department patients.

Eric L. Wallace

Dr. Wallace currently serves on the Board of Directors at Surgical Specialists of Charlotte. In addition, he has held leadership positions in the Department of Surgery at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. Dr. Wallace provides a full range of surgical care in both Novant Health and Atrium Health facilities, as well as local outpatient surgical centers. He has special interest in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures to minimize pain and speed recovery for his patients. He is trained in robotic surgery on the Da Vinci Surgical System, and teaches robotic surgery to other surgeons by hosting a Case Observation Site at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. Dr. Wallace also travels around the country as a Da Vinci Proctor to assist in the training of surgeons.

Kristin E. Wagner

Dr. Kristin Wagner is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society. She performs surgery at Novant Health and Atrium Health facilities.

Louis H. Zbinden III - President

Dr. Zbinden is President of Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, and previously served as Vice-President. He has served as chairman of the departments of surgery at Atrium Health Mercy and Atrium Health Pineville. He is past-president of the medical staff of Atrium Health Pineville. Dr. Zbinden is the current chairman of the credentials committee for both Atrium Health Mercy and Pineville. Additionally, he was elected chairman of the CMC-Charlotte "system-wide" credentials committee, and was named "physician of the year" at Atrium Health Pineville in 2007. Dr. Zbinden is a current member of both the North Carolina Medical Society and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society. He is also on the teaching faculty at Atrium Health Carolina's Medical Center. He serves as a Trauma Surgeon for Atrium Health Carolina's Medical Center and operates in both the Atrium and Novant Health facilities.

Manthan Makadia

Dr. Makadia is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and offers minimally invasive approaches and advanced laparoscopic procedures, including robotics when appropriate. He also performs bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Dr. Makadia provides surgical services in Fort Mill and Rock Hill at Piedmont Medical Center and Carolina Surgical Center. He sees patients at our Rock Hill and Fort Mill offices.

Natalie L. Nowak

Dr. Nowak is a general surgeon and member of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and American Hernia Society. Dr. Nowak provides the full range of general surgical care, with specific interests in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery as well as complex hernia repair.

Paul J. Orland

Dr. Paul Orland is fellowship-trained and board-certified in vascular and general surgery, with extensive expertise in both open and endovascular surgery. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and a recipient of the Attending Physician of the Year award for the Department of General Surgery at Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Orland has a special interest and expertise in the management of vascular disease, both arterial and venous disorders. He performs surgery in Novant Health and Atrium Health facilities.

R. Ike Bhasin

Terri R. Martin

Dr. Terri Martin is a native of Charlotte. She is a Morehead Scholar, having graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, with a degree in Biology and, subsequently, the UNC School of Medicine with a degree in Medicine. She completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Dr. Martin joined Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois as a Trauma and General Surgeon immediately after completing her residency. After 10 years of practice in Illinois, she pursued and completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center. She then worked for the Veterans Health Administration as a Staff Physician in General Surgery in Augusta, Georgia, and as a Site Director of Surgery in New York City. Dr. Martin returns to Charlotte to continue her career in General, Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery. In her spare time, she is an avid runner. She and her family are happy to be back in Charlotte, close to friends and family.
