Abby Fleisch

Abby Fleisch, MD, MPH, is an environmental health researcher at MaineHealth Institute for Research, Attending Physician in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at Maine Medical Center, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Environmental Health at Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Fleisch completed residency in pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital/Boston Medical Center and fellowship in endocrinology at Boston Children's Hospital. She participated in the Harvard-wide pediatric health services research fellowship and received a Masters of Public Health from Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Fleisch's research is focused on the extent to which exposure to environmental toxicants prenatally and across the lifespan impact cardiometabolic and musculoskeletal health. Dr. Fleisch has demonstrated an impact of chemicals such as perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and phthalates on fat distribution and bone health. Her studies include careful attention to vulnerable exposure windows, dietary confounding, potential mitigating effects of diet/lifestyle, and the health impact of multi-chemical exposure. Dr. Fleisch leads or co-leads 2 R01 awards, including an Outstanding New Environmental Scientist R01, and an R21 award from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Dr. Rushforth has nearly two decades of experience in industry and academia. Prior to joining Tufts CTSI in February 2014, she served as the Director of Biotechnology Education Programs at the Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation. She also consulted for, and managed, Emergent Behaviors of Integrated Cellular Systems at MIT, which focused on bringing engineers and biologists together to build biological machines. In those roles, she managed a multi-institutional National Science Foundation-funded Science and Technology Center, coordinated diverse teams, and led strategic planning efforts and day-to-day operations.

Alyssa Cabrera

Alyssa Cabrera joined Tufts CTSI in April 2019 as a Project Manager for the Research Process Improvement team. She's a former Peace Corps Volunteer (Paraguay 2009-2011) with a background in public health and quality improvement. She completed her MPH in Global Health at Boston University's School of Public Health in 2013 and became a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) in 2018. Prior to joining Tufts CTSI, she worked as a Quality Improvement Specialist at T1D Exchange supporting their Quality Improvement Collaborative that convened 10 academic medical centers across the US to share best practices and improve outcomes in people with type 1 diabetes.

Anastasia Gurinovich

Dr. Gurinovich's training is in bioinformatics with main expertise in analysis and integration of genetic and genomic data and genome-wide association studies. Her main research focus is on analysis of genotype and whole-genome sequencing data of centenarians in order to identify rare genetic variants that are associated with healthy aging. Additionally, she works on integrating genetic data with various -omics datasets through quantitative trait loci and other analyses.

In addition to his role at Tufts CTSI, Andreas Klein served as Chair of the Tufts Health Sciences Campus Institutional Review Board (IRB) from 2010 through 2019. Dr. Klein is an attending physician and Associate Chief in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Tufts Medical Center. He is the Director of the Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program and the Hematologic Malignancies Program, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is board certified in adult Hematology. He serves on various institutional committees, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Cancer and Antimicrobial Subcommittees, as well as Leadership for the Cancer Center and Pharmacy and Therapeutics for the Tufts Medicine network. He chairs the Value and Healthcare Economics Special Interest Group for the American Society of Transplant and Cellular Therapy. Dr. Klein has extensive clinical, laboratory, and correlative science research experience. He has designed and conducted a number of innovative investigator-initiated and sponsor-investigator interventional clinical trials in the treatment of lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and stem cell transplantation. He has been a nationally invited presenter on various oncology topics for more than a decade. Dr. Klein graduated from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at New England Medical Center, Boston, MA, and completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.

Angelique holds an MS in Global Health Policy Management and an MA in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. She also received a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communication Arts and Sciences with a certificate in Engineering and Community Engagement from the Pennsylvania State University. Her graduate research focused on understanding the lived experiences of both Afro-descended and Hispanic/Latinx individuals that interface with the U.S. Criminal Justice System through social identity theory. Specifically, she explored how their insight can inform changes to the U.S. healthcare system and health policy. Prior to Tufts CTSI, Angelique spent her free time exploring Reflective Structured Dialogue (RSD), Mediaiton, Circle keeping, and Narrative Medicine, all of which she is excited to apply to her role.

Angie Mae Rodday

Dr. Rodday has led or collaborated on research projects in a variety of different areas, including identifying pain trajectories in sickle cell disease, understanding treatment and outcomes among patients with hematological cancers, measuring cholesterol screening and treatment practices and preference among pediatricians, measuring and linking health-related quality of life to clinical outcomes, and evaluating care and outcomes for children with chronic respiratory failure. She is especially interested in research and methods that utilize observational datasets to understand access to treatment and care among patients with cancer. Dr. Rodday also enjoys teaching biostatistics within the CTS Graduate Program. She looks forward to expanding her network of collaborators at Tufts and beyond.

Dr. Must is the Morton A. Madoff Professor of Public Health and Chair of the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts School of Medicine. Dr. Must is a nutritional epidemiologist who has worked in population-based obesity research since 1988. She focuses on the epidemiology of obesity across the lifespan with a particular interest in physical and psychosocial health consequences during adolescence and in vulnerable populations. Additional research foci include the development of valid survey measures and surveillance systems for pediatric obesity and proximal modifiable behaviors (nutrition, physical activity, sedentary behavior). Recent efforts have been directed towards developing the descriptive epidemiology and health promotion for children with developmental disabilities. Dr. Must directs the Clinical and Community Research Core of the Boston Nutrition Obesity Research Center, a cross-institution NIH-funded Obesity Center and is co-director of the Healthy Weight Research Network for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of HRSA, USDHHS.

Binta previously worked for the Alzheimer's Association, MA/NH Chapter for almost 4 years, where she was responsible for coordinating and delivering education programs relevant to Alzheimer's disease and caregiving, focusing primarily on diverse audiences in the Greater Boston area. She is experienced in project management, and has worked in the Human Services field for over 7 years. Dr. Alice H Lichtenstein is the Stanley N. Gershoff Professor of Nutrition Science and Policy in the Friedman School, and Director and Senior Scientist of the Cardiovascular Nutrition Laboratory at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA), both at Tufts University. She holds secondary appointments as an Associated Faculty member in the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. In 2005 Dr. Lichtenstein was awarded an honorary doctoral degree from the medical faculty of the University of Kuopio in Finland. Dr. Lichtenstein completed her undergraduate work at Cornell University, holds a Master's degree from the Pennsylvania State University, and masters and doctoral degrees from Harvard University. She received her post-doctoral training in the field of lipid metabolism at the Cardiovascular Institute at Boston University School of Medicine. At the HNRCA Dr. Lichtenstein's research group focuses on assessing the interplay between diet and cardiovascular disease risk factors. Past and current work includes addressing issues related to trans fatty acids, soy protein and isoflavones, sterol/stanol esters, novel vegetable oils differing in fatty acid profile and glycemic index, in postmenopausal females and older males. Selected issues are investigated in animal models and cell systems with the aim of determining the mechanisms by which dietary factors alter cardiovascular disease risk. Additional work is focused on population-based studies to assess the relationship between nutrient biomarkers and cardiovascular disease risk, application of systematic review methodology to the field of nutrition and most recently the impact of taste perception on diet quality. Dr. Lichtenstein has served on committees for the American Heart Association, National Academies of Sciences, Food and Drug Administration, and US Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services. She received the 2019 Conrad A. Elvehjem Award for Public Service in Nutrition from the American Society for Nutrition, 2020 Mozaffarian Family Award for Public Impact from the Friedman School at Tufts University, 2022 Kritchevsky Lectureship from the American Heart Association Lifestyle Council, and the 2022 Atwater Lectureship from American Society for Nutrition. She currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Lipid Research, and Executive Editor of the Tufts Health and Nutrition Letter.

Dr. Williams co-leads the Tools and Resources and Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership and Open Biomedical Ontologies (OMOP2OBO) Domain Teams in the National Covid Cohort Collaborative (N3C).
