WENDELL POWELL STUDIO - Key Persons
Wendell B Powell founded Wendell Powell Studio in 1942. He was a classically trained photographer. He began his career in New York before relocating to Richmond, VA where he raised his two daughters with his wife, Loraine. He created heirloom portraits in his home/studio on Grove Ave. Loraine, an artist, would enhance portraits with hand painted oils. Both Loraine and Wendell paved the way for future photographers and artist. Douglas and Jill Hinckley are the 3rd owners of Wendell Powell Studio.
Jill and Douglas are proud parents of 2 girls, grand of one 4 legged furry boy, partners in crime for 25+ years, and owners of Wendell Powell Studio since 2012.
Many things will move them emotionally, an old photograph of Douglas's parents who left this earth too early or hearing their favorite song by Martin Sexton.
For Douglas, playing the bass, enjoying live music, and creating photographs will spark an emotion- "It's a good feeling when you are moved this way, but it's an even better feeling when you can share this gift with others."
