WSHIP

The Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP) is an independent non-profit entity established by the Washington State Legislature in 1987 to serve as the state's high-risk pool. WSHIP is not a public agency or state-funded program. It is funded solely through premiums and assessments to Member Plans (carriers)... WSHIP is also the safety net for the state's individual health insurance market in the event coverage is not offered in all counties (coverage is currently offered in all counties)... WSHIP is administered by ValueHealth Benefit Administrators, working with Express Scripts for pharmacy services, First Choice Health for provider network services, and MedWatch for care coordination and disease management programs.
