CTVRC - Key Persons


Andrea Donaldson

Dr. Donaldson graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelors degree in Law and Society. She then obtained her DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After graduating she completed a general rotating internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Toronto, and went into emergency medicine. In 2016, Dr. Donaldson took a position in general practice for a year before making a return to emergency medicine.

Andrew Chong

Dr. Chong obtained a degree in Arts and Science from McMaster University before realizing his true calling. He then pursued a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ontario Veterinary College followed by a general rotating internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic South in Toronto. This led to a Cardiology specialty internship at the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital before returning to the Ontario Veterinary College for a residency in Cardiology. During his residency, he was also able to complete a Doctor of Veterinary Science project evaluating novel biomarkers in feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After acquiring his board certification in Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Chong joined the CTVRC team. Dr. Chong has a special interest in congenital cardiac disease, cardiovascular interventional procedures, and heart failure treatment.

Catalina Contreras

Dr. Catalina contreras completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa. Then obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University College of Dublin in 2019. After graduation, she focused on general practice and started locuming as an emergency doctor at CTVRC in 2020. Her passion for emergency medicine has only grown since, joining the team full time in 2022.

Dr. Amanda Manning

Dr. Amanda Manning completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph and her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College. She then moved to Rochester New York and completed a small animal rotating internship. She worked in general practice for a couple of years prior to returning to emergency medicine.

Dr. Ellen Williamson

Dr. Ellen Williamson graduated in 2013 from OVC at the University of Guelph, where she remained for a year as a rotating intern in Medicine and Surgery. She completed her residency in anesthesiology and pain management at Virginia Tech in 2017, alongside a Master's degree in veterinary science and a certification in postgraduate education, and achieved board certification later that year. Following completion of her residency, she worked as a clinical instructor in anesthesiology at University of Wisconsin-Madison, then returned to Canada to work with several hospitals in the Toronto area until 2023 when she joined the team at Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Hospital. She lives in Midtown Toronto with her partner Jessica and their two cats, Jack and Jerry. In her free time she enjoys travelling the world and locally, she helps with competitive Magic the Gathering Tournaments as a judge.

Dr. Kimberly Ho

Dr. Kimberly Ho graduated with her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College. Following, she completed a small animal internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, PEI. She then returned to the Ontario Veterinary College for her internal medicine residency. Dr. Ho has a special research interest in blood clotting disorders in cats, as well as endocrine, urinary, and gastrointestinal diseases.

Dr. Kristin Kry

After graduating from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Dr. Kristin Kry earned a Masters of Science degree in Animal Behaviour from the University of Edinburgh. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George's University in 2011, followed by a small animal internship at the University of Guelph. She completed a three-year residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Auburn in July 2015, where she simultaneously obtained a Masters degree in Biomedical Science. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons - Small Animal and has since worked as a member of the CTVRC family as a board-certified veterinary surgeon. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary surgery including surgical oncology, soft tissue, minimally invasive, and orthopaedic surgery.

Dr. Lisa Rattray

Dr. Lisa Rattray was born and raised in Toronto. She earned her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow in 2010. After graduating, she spent the next 12yr in emergency medicine where she developed a strong interest in ophthalmology. She returned to the UK in 2018 and underwent 3yrs of advanced training to obtain post-graduate certification in small animal ophthalmology through the Royal College. Dr. Rattray has a special interest in corneal disease and the ocular manifestations of systemic diseases.

Dr. Pearl Chan

Dr. Pearl Chan obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College. She has years of experience in private practice and has locumed extensively at many different animal hospitals in and around Toronto. She is excited to work at CTVEC where the standards of patient care are exceptional and prioritized above all else.

Jamie Druck

Dr. Druck graduated completed 3 of 4 years of an Honours Bachelor of Zoology from the University of Guelph. She then obtained her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011. After graduating she worked at a 24-hour general practice before deciding to pursue emergency medicine at the Central Toronto Veterinary Emergency Clinic when the clinic first opened in 2012 and has been here ever since.

Ken Belanger

Ken Belanger is a Toronto native who grew up in the area before moving to Ottawa in 2005. He attended Carleton University, where he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. After completing his studies, Ken spent several years working in the veterinary field, gaining over 12 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant across four specialty and emergency hospitals. During this time, he specialized in surgical assistance and medical device reprocessing, as well as emergency and ICU assistance. In 2014, Ken moved back to the Toronto area, where he continued to pursue his passion for animal care. In April 2019, he joined the Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic as the Inventory Manager, overseeing the clinic's supplies and equipment. In June 2022, he was promoted to the Operations Manager role, where he now manages the day-to-day operations of the clinic. With his extensive experience in the veterinary field and his dedication to animal care, Ken has become an integral part of the Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic team. His skills and expertise have helped ensure that the clinic is able to provide the highest level of care to its patients, and he is committed to continuing to improve the clinic's operations and services in the years to come.

Michael Goldstein

Dr. Goldstein graduated from Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and went on to complete his internship at the Ocean State Veterinary Specialists hospital in Rhode Island. He spent four years at the Forest Hill Animal Clinic in Toronto, then completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. As a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Goldstein's special interests include gastroenterology, urology, endocrinology, and autoimmune diseases.

Sabrina Martens

Dr. Martens completed an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and a master's degree in physical chemistry from the University of Waterloo. She then obtained her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016. Following this she completed a small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC) South Toronto and then a neurology specialty internship at the Ontario Veterinary College. Since then, she has been practicing emergency medicine and is excited to have joined the CTVRC ER team in 2022.
