KEA CONSERVATION

The Kea Conservation Trust was set up in 2006 to assist in conservation of wild Kea (Nestor notabilis) in their natural habitat and to increase the husbandry standards and advocacy potential of those Kea held in captive facilities within New Zealand. The Kea Conservation Trust was registered as a charitable entity under the Charities Act 2005 (registration number CC29701)... Incorporated in 2006, the Kea Conservation Trust continues to develop positive relationships with international and local community groups including DOC, scientific and conservation groups, tourism operators, high country farming communities, schools, tertiary facilities, local communities and zoos. Additionally a large pool of enthusiastic volunteers provides at least 3,000 hrs annually of operational, field, education and scientific expertise.
