KALMAR FAMILY DENTISTRY - Key Persons
Dr Daniel Duggan was born in Jamaica, Queens and raised in Nassau County where he attended Holy Trinity High School. After spending a few years in "the real world" he went on to study at SUNY Farmingdale receiving his A.A. in Liberal Arts. Dr Duggan finished up his undergraduate education at Hofstra University Earning a B.A. in Biology.
Dr Duggan attended SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and completed a one year residency at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr Duggan owned and operated a practice in Bay Shore for 16 years. His practice and continuing education focused on lasers in dentistry, aesthetics, and surgical / restorative implant dentistry. After a short stint practicing in Florida, he is thrilled to return to Long Island as part of the Kalmar Family Dental team.
Outside of the office Dr Duggan and his wife enjoy being empty nesters when their kids are away at college and the chaos that ensues when they come crashing home. His hobbies include travel, cooking, yoga and reading great books.
Dr. Kelly L. Kalmar was raised in Greenlawn and is a proud graduate of Harborfields High School. She then attended Ithaca College where she earned a B.A. degree in Biology and received her D.M.D. degree from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation she completed a two-year General Practice residency at Nassau University Medical Center and went on to become the Director of Dentistry at that same program.
In 1998 Dr. Kelly was ready to return to Huntington, where she joined Kalmar Family Dentistry, which was established by her father, Dr. Gregory W. Kalmar in 1974. They practiced together here on Green Street in Huntington until his retirement in 2018.
During their 20 years together, they had established a solid professional relationship resulting in a patient centered practice philosophy in regard to both dental care and the overall well-being of those they treat and work with. Dr. Kelly Kalmar insists that all at Kalmar Family Dentistry continue in the tradition of going out of their way to establish caring relationships with our patients and aim to work in an atmosphere where excellent family dentistry is our purpose.
Dr. Kelly Kalmar is one of the founding members of the Long Island Female Dental Association. She is also one of the founding members and an officer of a local charity group called Dentist for a Better Huntington. Dr. Kelly is a member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, the Suffolk County Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has completed 1000 continuing education hours as a means of keeping her staff and herself on top of the continuously changing world of 21st century dentistry.
Dr. Kelly currently lives in Northport with her husband, Rob, and their two Bernese Mountain dogs, Axel and Sammy. When not working, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and gardening, but most of all she enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Harry Raff was born in Queens, New York and raised in Westport Connecticut where he attended Staple High School. He graduated from Clark University in Worcester Massachusetts where he received his B. A. degree in Biology. Dr. Raff attended University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington CT, and graduated in 1990 and has been practicing dentistry in New York ever since.
Dr. Raff is a member of the ADA and the New York State and local Dental Societies. He is an Invisalign certified provider. While confident in all phases of General Dentistry, Dr. Raff particularly enjoys treating more complex cosmetic cases.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Raff is an avid cyclist, riding his various bicycles on the trails and beaches of Long Island. Despite not having any real "mountains", Long Island has a strong mountain biking community, with whom he participates in trail riding, advocacy and trail maintenance. Caumsett State Park here in Huntington is a favorite locale of his.
Dr. Raff is very happy to become affiliated with Kalmar Family Dentistry as Dr. Kalmar and her practice represent the high professional ideals and great patient care that Dr. Raff strives to maintain.
Dr. Raff lives in Westbury, NY with his wife Lancy Lim. They love to travel, both here in the US and abroad, often visiting Lancy's family in Singapore, where she is from. Aside from travel, entertaining at home, cooking and exploring Long Island's great culinary opportunities are the passions of Dr. Raff and his wife Lancy.
Dr. Thomas Jones is a native ‘South Shoreian' of Long Island! Having grown up in humble beginnings to his most recent locale, surrounded by the beautiful canals of Seaford, he is a deeply rooted New Yorker. After graduating from Uniondale High School in 1996, he went on and graduated Magna cum Laude from Molloy College in Rockville Center. Afterwards he spent 4 stressful years hiding his inner pinstripes from the natives of Boston while attending Tufts University School of Dental Medicine!
After receiving his DMD certificate, Dr. Jones returned to Long Island and successfully completed a 1 year General Practice Residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. Dr. Jones stayed on at the hospital for several more years as both an attending and ultimately, program director for the GPR program. This is where his relationship with Kalmar Family Dentistry began.
Dr. Jones has been a part of the Kalmar Family Dentistry Family since 2011. He takes great pride and dedication in serving the local community and thinks of Huntington as his second home!
Dr. Jones has two children and enjoys spending as much quality time with them as possible. He is also an avid camper and backpacker, most recently embarking on a 75 mile backpacking trip in New Mexico with his son. When he has free time that he is not spending with his children, he volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster in his son's Boy Scout Troop. You can also find him driving over sand dunes in his Wrangler on beautiful sunny weekends!
