Dr. Art Charles

Dr. Art Charles originally hails from Belgrade, ME where he grew up on a small hobby farm with many animals, both large and small. Dr. Charles graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and returned to Maine to practice rural mixed animal medicine in Aroostook County. After practicing in The County for several years Dr. Charles and his wife, Dr. Bailey Gage, have moved to Midcoast Maine and purchased the MVS from Dr. Howarth. Dr. Charles is an enthusiastic outdoorsman and loves enjoying the great Maine outdoors with his wife and dogs (Black lab named Clyde, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Norman). Dr. Bailey Gage grew up in Kansas City. She acquired her interest in veterinary medicine at a young age spending time with her father Dr. Hires Gage, who has been a prominent veterinarian and practice owner in the Kansas City area since 1979. Dr. Gage graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and then completed a small animal internship at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists in 2015. She then spent two years practicing as a small animal veterinarian in Aroostook county. Dr. Gage enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine with special interests in internal medicine and ultrasound. When not at the clinic, Dr. Gage enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and snuggling with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Norman, her tiny black cat named Fuller, and Clyde her black Labrador.

Dr. Laurie S. Howarth

Dr. Laurie S. Howarth , founder and former owner of Medomak Veterinary Services, graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. She has lived in Maine for over thirty years where she raised her son Wyatt who is now a dentist specializing in prosthodontics and is living and practicing in Portland, Maine. Her husband Bill Chapman is the boat captain for Kieve-Wavus. Laurie and Bill share their home with two senior whippets, Zuni and Zeiga, and English setter named Blizzard and a Labrador Retriever is on the way.

Erin Bailey

Erin Bailey joined the staff in 2002 as a veterinary assistant. She graduated from Unity College with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a major in wildlife. Erin lives on Westport Island with her two Labradors, Moose and Casco. She also shares her house with a big cat named Juju Pupu and an adopted turtle named Turts. Erin enjoys bowling and is on a team named "It Is What It Is". She also enjoys camping, playing games, crafting, and going to the movies. Erin Bennett joined the staff in 2002 as an assistant. She lives in Waldoboro with her husband Rob, two sons Kaleb and Robert, and daughter Olivia. She also has two dogs Odis (an American Bulldog) and Georgia (a Pitbull) and two cats Miss Kitty, and Penny. She likes animals, movies, and spending time with her children.

Katie Grant

Katie Grant joined the staff at MVS in Spring 2005 as a part time assistant and is now our office manager. She lives in Waldoboro with her husband Pete, dog named Shilo, and two cats Oliver and Grady. She has two grown children, Ryan and Sarah and a grandson, Owen and granddaughter, Ava. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, bowling, following college hockey, camping and traveling every chance she gets.
