ABC SCHOOL - Key Persons

Brenda Bimbi

Hello, my name is Brenda and I have been working at the ABC School since 2001. I graduated in Literature with a specialisation in Art History from the University of Florence and I am a licensed tour guide. I started working for this school as an Italian teacher for foreign students and in 2010 I joined the administration team. I work mainly in the school in Florence, where I manage the Italian language and culture courses, take care of extra-curricular activities and teach. I am also responsible for the teaching materials, which I update periodically based on suggestions I receive from students and teachers at both the Italian language schools in Tuscany and Liguria. In my spare time I practice, study and teach yoga. I love walking in the Tuscan countryside, I am an Italian Red Cross volunteer and I write short stories.

Hans Christian Anderson

Hans Christian Anderson stayed in this very same bay in 1833, where he found inspiration for some of his most famous works. An important literary prize, the Anderson Prize, is dedicated in his name every year, attracting writers and readers from all over Europe.

Monica Fabianelli

Job Titles:
  • Director
I was born in Genoa but grew up in Sestri Levante on the Ligurian coast until I moved to Florence for University. I started to work at the ABC school in Florence in 1991 as a teacher but I also accompanied students on afternoon activities and the excursions. I was a good listener for their needs and wants and after a few years I was given the responsibility to organise the extra-curricular activity program. I am a translator and interpreter in English and German and I am a licensed tour guide for Florence and the province. The languages that I have studied, as well as my practical and constructive nature, have helped me to work as part of the administration team and I am now the director of the school. I like to organise and solve problems. For me, work is always a challenge and a search for new solutions which improve and enrich the stay of our students.

Wally Oliviero

My name is a bit special; it is not Italian, it is the title of an opera, ‘La Wally', in fact I come from a family of musicians. I was born in Turin and raised in Florence. I worked for many years in an Italian school for foreigners where I taught the language and worked in the office as well, in which I took care of organising cultural activities and coordinating the work of the teachers. Now, I form part of the staff at ABC School, you will find me in the secretary office to welcome you upon your arrival and I will always be ready to help you during your stay in Florence, but you can find me in class as well! I live in the countryside, love nature and animals, I really like taking care of my garden and my vegetables! One of my big passions is cinema!
