BEN WEST

For over 20 years Ben has made marks, torn paper, and spread paint with serious intent. As cantankerous about art as he is music, Ben strives for cohesive bodies of work in collage, painting and drawing. Influenced by Cy Twombly, Richard Diebenkorn, Kurt Schwitters and dozens more artists, illustrators and photographers, Ben holds his own art to the standards of those he admires; building solid compositions that reveal layered histories of decisions, mistakes and materials. Making his living in commercial art, Ben has thus far shown little of the hundreds of works he has created, preferring to dedicate his limited time and energies to the studio.
