Mr. Adam Peakes is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Avid Holdings. Prior to Avid, Adam served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Noble Corporation. Noble is one of the largest publicly-traded offshore drilling contractors in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Noble, Adam worked as a Managing Director and Head of Oilfield Services for Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Company from 2011-2016. From 2000-2011, Adam worked for Goldman Sachs-Investment Banking Division and focused on Energy, Power and Industrial companies. Adam currently serves on the Board of Directors for Trecora Resources (NYSE: TREC), a leading manufacturer of various specialty petrochemical products and synthetic waxes and the provision of custom processing services. He is also a Board member for Petroserv Marine Inc. In addition, during his nearly 20 year career as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs and Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Company, Adam advised numerous boards on strategic alternatives, mergers and acquisitions and capital raising opportunities. And you come from, you know, viewers in Michigan is known for that breadth and excellence and so much skill. When I think about Rice, I think about all the things we could do to, sort of, expand awareness and grow the reputation of the university. Anup Sharma is senior vice president, Global Business Services for LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies. In this role he is responsible for leading the company's digital strategy as well as the company's information technology and procurement functions. Prior to this position, Sharma was with General Electric for more than a 24-year career holding a variety of executive positions, including vice president & corporate officer. In his most recent role, Sharma was responsible for driving enterprise-wide digital solutions to accelerate customer outcomes, revenue and productivity. Previously, Sharma served as chief information officer (CIO) for GE Oil & Gas, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, and GE Energy Installation & Field Services. He also served in a series of cross-functional leadership roles at GE Corporate, GE Power and GE Capital, and is a certified six-sigma master black belt. Barbara Bennett Ostdiek

Barbara Ostdiek is the Senior Associate Dean of Degree Programs and Professor of Finance and Statistics at Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business. A member of the Jones School faculty since 1994, Ostdiek has taught a variety of courses across all of the degree programs, most recently Portfolio Management and Economic Environment of Business, and she served for several years as the academic director of the El Paso Corporation Finance Center. Ostdiek received the Jones Graduate School Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001, 2004 and 2009. Her research, which focuses on investments and asset pricing, includes articles addressing characteristics-based investment strategies, optimal portfolio formation, and information flow and volatility within and across markets. Ostdiek publishes in top academic journals including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Ostdiek serves as audit committee chair on the board of trustees for the USAA Investment Management Company, is an independent member of Salient Partners Index Committee, and serves on the Academic Board of Alternative Investments Forum. She is a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo investment committee and serves on the board of directors of Musiqa. Bobby Tudor is a Retired Founder and CEO of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., and is currently the CEO of Artemis Energy Partners. TPH is a leading Energy Investment Bank formed in 2007 with over 180 employees in five offices in the US, Canada and UK. It is widely recognized for its industry leading position in Energy securities research and Energy investment banking advisory transactions. Prior to forming TPH, Mr. Tudor was a Partner at Goldman Sachs and a leader of its worldwide Energy practice. Over his 30-plus year career in Investment Banking, he has worked on many of the defining transactions of the period, across most energy subsectors and geographies. Mr. Tudor is currently the Chairman of the Houston Energy Transition Initiative, which is a consortium of Houston's leading energy companies working to shape the region's Energy Transition Strategy. Mr. Tudor is the Past Chair of the Greater Houston Partnership and of the Rice University Board of Trustees. Burdette serves as Principal of EDGE Realty Capital Markets in Houston. With more than 16 years of real estate and retail experience, he brings invaluable knowledge to the team. Previously, Burdette was Vice President of Development for Lovett Commercial, a major Texas commercial developer. Prior to Lovett, Burdette was the Vice President of E-Commerce and Marketing for Francesca's Collections (NASDAQ: FRAN). Additionally, he worked for Weingarten Realty (NYSE: WRI), where he served as a Director in several capacities including Acquisitions, Capital Markets and New Development. Burdette has purchased, sold, developed and spearheaded joint ventures for over $500 million worth of land, retail properties and industrial projects. Mr. Everett was Chairman, CEO, and majority owner of Century Development, a diversified national real estate company that developed more than 40 million square feet of office, medical, residential and civic buildings in Houston for a value in excess of $3 billion. Mr. Everett founded and recently sold Century Campus Housing Management, the nation's largest on-campus student housing company. Mr. Everett's firm was the development partner in Houston's Allen Center and Greenway Plaza mixed-use developments, the 71-story Wells Fargo Bank Plaza, Reliant Energy Plaza, and numerous other well known real estate projects. His company served as project manager for over 10 million square feet of projects in the Texas Medical Center and elsewhere in Houston. Mrs. Mastandrea is responsible for establishing key strategic priorities, developing actionable and quantitative strategic plans as well as driving decision making and processes to create long and short-term improvement of Whitestone's portfolio. In addition, she is responsible for all new development, redevelopment and new product initiatives. Prior to her current role, Mrs. Mastandrea worked with the executive team on the portfolio's initial turnaround, the firm's IPO, and its subsequent transition to life as a publicly traded company. Previously, she was Chief Operating Officer for Midwest Development Corporation, a privately held residential and commercial real estate company. She began her career on the trading floors on Wall Street and then as an investment banker with Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. Dr. Brent Smith is an award-winning organizational psychologist and has educated, coached, and consulted for over twenty years. Dr. Smith currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education. He previously was a faculty member at London Business School and Cornell University and taught at UC Berkley, Oxford University, INSEAD, Columbia, DTU, and the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. Dr. Smith has taught over 200 executive programs around the globe for companies including Shell, ExxonMobil, IBM, HSBC, Credit Suisse, Saudi Aramco, Goldman Sachs, Genentech, DeBeers, Microsoft, Citibank, RedBull, Royal Bank of Scotland, among many others. Jing Zhou is Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs and Mary Gibbs Jones Professor of Management at Jones Graduate School of Business of Rice University. Previously, she served as Organizational Behavior Area Coordinator, Director for Asian Management Research & Education, and Director of Ph.D. Program. She has been elected to Fellow of Academy of Management, Fellow of American Psychological Association, Fellow of Association for Psychological Sciences, and Fellow of Society for I-O Psychology. A recent study ranked her among the top 1% influential researchers in business and management. Jing has taught leading innovation, negotiation, leadership, global leadership, micro foundations of managing the global firm, and organizational behavior at undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. levels. Prior to joining the Jones School, she was an associate professor and Mays Faculty Fellow in the Management Department at the Mays Business School of Texas A&M University. She has received awards for her excellence in teaching. Her research interests are leading innovation; contextual and personal factors that facilitate or inhibit creativity and innovation; creativity receiving; consequences of creativity; cross-cultural differences in antecedents and consequences of creativity; and creativity in entrepreneurship. Using the interactional perspective as an overarching lens, her research uses motivational, affective, and cognitive theories for an understanding of individual and team creativity in organizations. Her systematic program of research has addressed central questions such as how organizational and contextual factors (e.g., leadership, supervisory behaviors, coworker behaviors, feedback, and human resource management practices) interact with personal factors (e.g., personality, values, goal orientation) to enhance or restrict individual and team creativity. Her collaboration with Jennifer George has indicated that job dissatisfaction and negative mood serve to trigger creative endeavor and sustain creative effort (George & Zhou, 2002; Zhou & George, 2001). This research stream resulted in their formulating the dual-tuning theory, which posits that negative and positive mood facilitate different aspects of the creative idea generation process (George & Zhou, 2007). Professor Zhou has broken new conceptual ground and theorized about managers' recognition of employees' creative ideas (Zhou & Woodman, 2003). Working with coauthors, she has formulated new theory and conducted empirical investigation on new idea perception and recognition in a programmatic manner (e.g., Zhou, Wang, Bavato, Tasselli, & Wu, 2019; Zhou, Wang, Song, & Wu, 2017). Her work also revealed conditions under which employee creativity positively or negatively affected organizational performance (Gong, Zhou, & Chang, 2013), and effects of employee creativity on firm innovation (Liu, Gong, Zhou, & Huang, 2017). Her research has been published in top journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology. Books she co-edited are Handbook of Organizational Creativity (with Chris Shalley), The Oxford handbook of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship (with Chris Shalley and Mike Hitt), and Handbook of research on creativity and innovation (with Bess Rouse, 2021). Professor Zhou has received research awards for her excellence in research. Her work has received a large number of citations (e.g., approximately 31,446 per Google Scholar), and has received Journal of Management's Best Paper Award twice (2009, 2019), indicating that her systematic research program is impactful. Striving to inform management practice of research-based and scientifically-proven knowledge, she has served as a consultant to organizations on issues related to her research interests and expertise, especially on leading innovation and negotiation.
